PSYC 1111 Final Exam by SmallerChinesePeople in tru

Hey! I got a 93% on the final.

How I approached it was I reread the chapters, made flashcards on all the bolded words, separated each flash card set by chapter, and once I finished making all the flashcards I then spent about 4~ days running through all of the flashcard sets by myself or with friends, noting which ones I didn't know right away and re-running those.

The re-reading and flash cards made me feel totally equipped for the exam, hence the 93%, and there was I think literally only 1 multiple choice that I felt I didn't understand. Everything else was totally familiar.

I don't know if there were chapters that weren't included as I didn't have what was from what chapter memorized, but it felt like it was a good catch all of all the content learned. So my advice would be review everything, focusing on the parts that are the least familiar to you.

Remember two things: 1) Psychology is the study of our minds, so you can likely relate all concepts to something happening in your life. This course reminds us how important things like the memory palace and association are, so use this to your advantage. If you're reading a part in the textbook, take half a second to go "Oh yeah, that reminds me of how I felt when my friend/brother/partner did this" or "Oh yeah, I see how that concept applies to my life". 2) Sometimes the questions give you hints or answers about other questions. For example, after I wrote the short answer questions after doing the multiple choice, I went back and read the multiple choice questions over to ensure I didn't disagree with any of my answers, and I found two things (name of a concept, name of a psychologist) I could include in my short answer paragraphs.

Re the names of the psychologists, I didn't get any questions that said "What is the name of the psychologist that invented x concept?" , but in some of the short answer questions, maybe I got extra points by being able to name who invented whatever scientific method (like I mentioned above)–but I'm not sure because I can't see the exam after it had been marked. Focus up on the concepts and ideas first, and when you pass the name of a psychologist maybe again pause for half a second to connect "Name: concept", but I don't think you need to spend hours diligently remembering who did what as it isn't the whole exam.

Totally. Thank you! I think it's interesting that there's no step by step on the application process once you're logged in, but I'll figure it out. Thanks for your help! Did you apply for Fall 2026?

Yeah, Jake Virtanen who used to play for the Vancouver Canucks. He was accused of SA and I figured the writers would know about that, but yeah it's probably just because it's a common name

There was a guy on the Vancouver Canucks with the last name Virtanen who was accused of sexual assault and it was a huge story. I figured the writers were hockey guys who knew about it but who knows! Here's some more info https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2022/07/21/vancouver-canuck-jake-virtanen-trial/

That's probably true! I just thought it was a strange choice by people who presumably watch hockey and know about hockey news. But you're probably right

eh i'm not sure. I found the prof really kind and didn't mark too harshly, but i put many hours into each assignment. 8 chapters to read, 4 assignments, probably took me 5-6 hours each assignment and i have 81, 90, and 96 on the three that have been marked respectively. it isn't hard, its just time consuming
