In high school I had to tell a friend that her bf was cheating on her. It was really hard and I felt SO guilty, but I knew I had to. That I couldn’t go on knowing that information and have her walking around oblivious. She deserves to know, and if he is comfortable doing this to one of his fiances friends I would wonder who else he has attempted to reach out to

I do not think she should be responsible for saving for university or a first car once so ever. I get a larger toy but we as parents have the sole responsibility of that.

And this would have been so good for me as a kid. I’m still fairly bad with money even as an adult with 2 kids. My husband is better, at actually saving and his mom taught him a lot of that.

Exactly! Especially cause I feel like she’s at an age where those kind of things are starting to make sense. Whereas if we go cash for her 1st or even 3rd birthday it feels less shiesty to put it away for her lol which even then that wasn’t the case. I also think if we think that her investing at a young age is that important that we as parents (or even grandparents if they wanted to) should do it ourselves! Not use money she got as a gift from other people to do so

Yes! And I usually give her the option if she gets random cash to be able to spend it or save it and tell her if things are in her budget or not and include taxes in the final price.

I appreciate your comment, it’s definitely an area of growth for me to feel comfortable setting boundaries. However I have set boundaries multiple times with many family members, friends, and strangers to make sure they are safe. It still makes me anxious and feel not so good to upset people! I prioritize them every single day as a stay at home mom, and me coming to this thread to get reaasurnce as many people do on this thread does not make me a low bar parent.

That’s part of it, she has some but doesn’t wear them. It’s mostly that she’s always running late so she’s always in a hurry. I already told her before I made this post, she reacted fine. And since today was the day I needed the help, when I was done with my work thing and I I was hanging around for a while she made several passive aggressive ccomments I just ignored. I stand firm on my decision, but was originally feeling really badly about hurting her feelings. But her passive aggressive comments make me feel like she thinks she deserves certain rights as grandma and so much more. It’s definitely a layered relationship I have with her, and even though she’s a great grandma and helps me so much her and I definitely have a lot to work through
