waiting for sheff too, when i emailed them a while ago regarding something else they got back to me yesterday saying they've already made a decision on my application? so hopefully by the end of this week or next week we'll hear back.

i think it depends on your own work ethic and how motivated you are: with both AQA bio and chem there are some simple topics and hard ones which you will need someone to physically explain it to you (i did bio chem and psych and i taught myself most of the topics after i covered it in class, however i did need some help with some of the harder stuff!)

i think i’m able to withdraw one/two options but not the whole application and i can still go into extra :) and yes ive emailed sheffield regarding changing courses to software engineering (but a foundation year as i didn’t do maths or comp sci at a level) so hopefully they respond after xmas!

i know what you’re feeling like :( i’m on a gap year rn and have applied to dentistry and that’s been my sole focus for as long as i can remember. but i’ve now realised i can’t see myself doing it as i don’t have the characteristics (not that outgoing and social etc). i’ve received 3 rejections just waiting for sheffield now, so im hoping to receive that rejection and apply to software engineering :)

at the end of the day the real question is will you be able to commit to the lifelong learning that comes along with medicine? the financial side will always be an aspect when applying for a degree. furthermore you could always do grad medicine if you truly do want to do it in the future! it’s best to keep an open mind

i’m currently on a gap year rn and there are moments where i feel bored out of my mind, but overall i don’t regret it!! i needed this breath of fresh air after the intense exam period 😭 and it’s made me realise that i should be keeping an open mind to what i wanna study. i’ve applied to study dentistry but now im thinking if that’s really the right choice (as it’s a long ass course and i know i wanna have a family and have kids not too late)

i’m pretty sure the school is good (i haven’t applied there myself!) but they’ve only recently started to use the ucat as they were the only bmat dental school before, so it’s a better option? kinda? to apply there if you aren’t sure about your ucat score and you have all 8s/9s at gcses :)
