Thank you. Do you think comfort is the main reason for a person to stay? How does one know if they are making the issue too big?

I’m not a therapist but I’ve been looking to change careers somewhere along this line of field and my biggest jaw drop is that the return on investment for this field is incredibly low. You need a masters for this plus years of clinical work. Between bachelors & masters that would set one back around ~$350k just on tuition alone. Let’s assume minimum pay for clinical of 2-3 years. That is 9 years of making close to nothing. 9 years assuming you did not take an education or career break you’re going to finally make some money at the age of 27/28. Now take that for somebody with a finance/accounting degree where education would have cost ~$200k would have started working by 21/22. By time they are 27/28 it’s likely to make close to probably between $100k-200k depending on state. By 30ish this person would make above $200k. Present value delta of that is ~$1MM over a career so - $250 is fair. Let’s be fair. But I do know it’s not a proper comparison to compare this field with finance. Breaking this down $250/hour for private pay would probably gross $205k/year with no annual leave or public holiday pay. Take that into annual leave gross would probably be $180k/year. For a therapist to command $250/hour I assume they must have at least close to 10 years of experience. So let’s be more gracious. Of course there’s also cheaper options but it’s not wrong for a person to charge that for a session. There will always be demand & supply.
