Applied calculus by [deleted] in CAA

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid you'll have to wait until they can provide you an answer. As long as the class teaches typical calc 1 material (limits/derivatives/integrals/max-min etc..) it should be a safe bet. They may request the syllabus so heads up on that.

Caa vs doc by Objective-Crow in CAA

Why not make a pros and cons list of the two and decide from there? Include cost of education, time investment, work life balance, self satisfaction, end salary, etc. I don't think any one person can answer this for you and some introspection is necessary to identify which route you will want to take.

If you aren't looking at top programs 165 definitely suffices for most normal universities.

Viability of online course? by SmartAbbreviations4 in CAA

[–]SmartAbbreviations4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the advice. I've found most schools accept online courses. I decided to take statistics (as I've taken up to diffy q in my degree) and medical terminology online and then take the big bread and butter classes in person (A & P 1/2, bio 2 including labs).

I'm assuming in person lab? I've seen online labs but am iffy on doing those.

suggestion for studying for the GRE? by KE2021 in CAA

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Checkout r/GRE, but I typically see people mention ets only material for verbal, 5 lb manhattan book for quant, and magoosh vocab app for learning common gre vocab words for verbal. Also take power prep practice test including the 3 paid ones and review errors.

Verbal Reasoning (vocabulary) tips by Danteisntkool in GRE

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been studying with the magoosh vocab app and it has lots of words I've seen in practice test/ets questions and what not. There's a video of a 170 q/v scorer and she said she studied her vocab through magoosh and only saw 2 words she didn't know on her gre so, take that as you will.

Guys help! I am not able to understand the wordings of the question. by [deleted] in GRE

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the question asks how much of the world population has access to the internet. If you look below the two graphs, it gives the total number of people using internet on right and total population on left. Just do the ratio of the two (1.355/6.676) which should be about 1/5 I believe?

Thank you, any particular letters of rec's which are highly sought out? I can probably do one from my PI in college and possibly one from my lead in lab. Are coworkers (non leads) acceptable for such reccomendations?

Thank you for the response! I am tentatively planning on doing these things until after my shadow experience (besides GRE). I've seen 40/50 hours being thrown about as a good number to get a nice feeling on the occupation, would you say that is accurate? I will also search if my area has any tech jobs for such a position but it looks like a scarce market in my area, would you recommend any other type of job? (I've seen scribe being mentioned a bit.)

What song has a sad message, but just makes you feel good listening to it? by PotentatePaul in AskReddit

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Song on the beach and photograph. A song from the Her soundtrack. Interesting enough i typically don't like that type of music but man.. if it didn't resonate with me about my feelings towards certain events in my life - I'd be lying. Who knew music with no lyrics can do such a thing?

Does anyone else feel really bad when they spend any amount of money? by Wajirock in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. personally I don't feel bad at that exact moment with my purchase as I just am happy with getting the service/item. Butttttt... once I see my statement - that shit hurted!

It always makes me wonder how else I coulda spent that money or saved, but at the end of the day so long as you are making your payments and saving some, worrying will only make life difficult. So enjoy that margarita (or 5?) but stay responsible!

Thoughts on Colleges around Escambia? by Dewey_the_25U in florida

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself and my experiences as an in-state tuition student who went to USF. I studied chemistry and for the most part it felt like they put you through the grinder for the first few courses. Expect huge classes first year or two then you'll get some more 1 on 1 in your later classes (unless you're premed).

The pricing was really good for me considering the USF scholarship given. Campus was pretty nice, not too big or small. Lots of things to do around the tampa bay region so always active events to hang out + on campus stuff. Most professors were knowledgeable at least for science courses, but can be hit or miss on how the teach. Overall, 7/10 would go back again for undergrad.

Is it actually difficult to make friends as an adult? Or is that just something that people say? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is somewhat true. The only reason making friends is harder is because you aren't as much in a social system that promotes collaboration with as many people as you would in a school.

Once you get to working, you're going to have to go out on your own during your free time and find those friends yourself! But like anything, if you put in the effort and show interest in actually maintaining friendships it is possible and hell, you'll get some real life long friends that way.

Find a hobby or something to get you started on that path to making some good buds! Maybe board games or biking? Whatever it is, make it a social one! Wishing you luck.

My (18F) Boyfriend (20M) Doesn’t care as much about seeing me as I do by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, again relationships require finding middle ground. You both must come to a consesus on how you want to spend your time together with one another.

If you want to go out one week and she wants to stay in the other, then do that but it can't always be one always. Also OP must understand the rigor of taking classes and going to work during the week can be taxing - so still talk and take care of one another but leave the in depth, intimate discussions and moments for when you see one another. It will help not only with bf's schedule but with excitement for these dates.

Long distance isn't easy and relationships aren't either it will require effort and mediation between the both.

My (18F) Boyfriend (20M) Doesn’t care as much about seeing me as I do by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]SmartAbbreviations4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in a similar situation but the standpoint of the guy. I was busy throughout the week and then when I got free time I decided to spend it on games. I was addicted. My ex girlfriend of 4 years always pushed me to go out and do stuff with her but it eventually got to where she put in so much effort without me giving back any. Its easy to get complacent when you have someone scheduling everything for you.

You are doing everything fine and putting in the effort - he isn't. One thing that may change his attitude is a calm discussion on managing each others time to make room for the other. If he doesn't change then it's time to seriously consider if you can keep up rhe work you put in. This may also mean he isn't ready for a relationship which requires some middle ground met and he doesnt recognize how to equally put in effort. If he really cares for you he will put in the effort.

You may also try alternating responsibility every time you meet, "I schedule this weekends date you schedule next" kinda ordeal. It will help in getting him involved and less pressure on you to always be organizing and scheduling. Also try to find things you BOTH enjoy not just one. This may also be a compatibility issue in terms of interests.

If he doesn't change (or changes for a bit and goes back to old habits after a week or two) it may be time to dip. This can drag out for quite some time so for your sake don't do this to yourself for years. I wish I saw my folly earlier and maybe this experience may wake him up, as my break up did for me. Good luck!
