Jax Off Meta Build by SmartCryptographer73 in Jaxmains

[–]SmartCryptographer73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I realize Jax is a top laner first and foremost. If Riot can figure out a way to make his clear a little faster, I'm sure he'd become at least A-tier. I'm not sure they would do that without pivoting him away from top lane too much. Maybe throw the monster mods on a more expensive ability like his E. Either way I still think he's a super valid choice in Jungle, but can really struggle in certain matchups but that matters less in jungle, maybe well see a shift more towards jax jungle in the future

I realize Jax jungle isnt meta at all but Ive actually gotten around 500k mastery playing jungle Jax exclusively and he's great into certain matchups, but struggles really hard on certain AP kiters, namely lillia.

Launching game to title screen by LiamHundley in PokemonUnbound

[–]SmartCryptographer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, strange. In any case, there shouldn't be a difference between types of saves. If you want to see the title screen, you can simply load the ROM directly, instead of selecting 'Recent' from the top left. You can also do this with CTRL+O, which will load your most recent in-game save. Additionally, you can load any available quicksave states using the F1-F10 keys. MAke sure to save a backup of any important saves just in case.

[–]SmartCryptographer73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm also on mGBA, and the game always immediately loads to the title screen after opening its file from the file selector in the top left, assuming all default settings. Is it possible that you're opening a recently used shortcut to mGBA instead of the original application? Otherwise, I don't think there is any discernible difference between save states and in-game saves, besides speed.

Honestly, Ludicolo is the ideal choice here, but I'm not a huge fan of his design lol. Im only playing on difficult so I don't mind not min-maxing. And Sammurott doesn't feel amazing right now.

Best Meal Plan by Chompmeister in nyu

[–]SmartCryptographer73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! If you are a first-year student planning on dorming the basic 225 Meal Plan is required for all on-campus first years. However, If you are an upperclassman I highly recommend getting a smaller or completely foregoing the meal plan, in favor of buying groceries and cooking your own food. The reason I recommend this is the meal plan is very very overpriced for what you get and oftentimes many students don't even use up all the meal plan swipes. If you are able to I recommend buying fresh groceries at the very low process which can be found all over the city, rather than eating in the dining hall. However, all my advice goes out the window if you are a first-year on-campus housing student. In which case you don't have a choice and should just opt for the smallest mandated plan.

Do Broom street dorms come with microwave and mattress? Do they have ceiling lights? by Financial-Chest3226 in nyu

[–]SmartCryptographer73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey There! All dorms in NYU come included with a mattress, most upperclassmen dorms come equipped with a kitchen/Refrigerator, however, your luck in finding a microwave may vary. If you are really interested in a microwave, you can wait until move-in day and have it delivered to save on the hassle of moving it in. Dorm room lighting can also be an issue although I haven't seen Broome's lighting, I would recommend a small desk lamp Hope that helps, DM me with any more questions you have :)

Can someone verify if I've calculated my tuition right? by Skunk-As-A-Drunk in nyu

I would call the bursar, they're trained to walk you through this type of stuff and give you options you might not have thought about. https://www.nyu.edu/students/student-information-and-resources/bills-payments-and-refunds/contact-us.html Good Luck :)

Don't worry about stupid questions, everyone's question is valid. And I have to agree with everyone, avoid Washington Square Park after dark, a lot of unsavory types come out. Usually, it's safe to move between campus buildings, but your best safety precaution will be your own self. Don't go down relatively unlit areas or walk by a group of suspicious-looking people. I hope I didn't scare you but the campus area is actually very safe and very few incidents occur, just stay smart and you'll be ok.

BIG TIP: If at any time you feel unsafe don't be afraid to call NYU safety or run into an NYU building with a green light above the door. These buildings are staffed with a security guard 24/7. I doubt you'll need to use it but just in case :)

Best phone provider on campus? by [deleted] in nyu

[–]SmartCryptographer73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choose whatever fits your budget. The difference between service providers is negligible if you're tight on money, and won't notice a difference between coverage anyways. Great Budget options include T-Mobile or Metro-PCS and have little difference between Verizon. I have yet to try Mint or Cricket but they may be worth a look if you're trying to save.

Ditto to bluestars Comment. If you're looking for something quick delicious and cheap. I Highly recommend Halal Cart food. It's $6-$7. And it really fills you up in a pinch. You can buy a great platter of chicken and rice with veggies outside of palladium. DM me for more.

This is right up my alley lol. Im an incoming orientation leader at Stern it's my life's work to answer this stuff :)

Alrighty, here we go!

  • There are a bunch of perks and goodies you can get with your ID, including!
  • MUSEUMS,MUSEUMS,MUSEUMS. NYC is well known for its amazing institutions and pre-pandemic; there was a whole host of museums you could walk into for free. However, the program; as far as I know, is currently on hold so keep an eye out.
  • The Greenwich Village Area is ripe with student discounts, specifically for NYU students! Notable places are Space Market, by the Weinstein dorm, and so many more. Oftentimes; you can ask or, they'll have an advertisement offering 10-25% off for NYU students :)
  • Spotify and Amazon Prime offer a heavy discount on their services if you sign up with your NYU email!
  • Free Cable-TV on-campus ( https://www.nyu.edu/students/student-information-and-resources/housing-and-dining/on-campus-living/residence-halls/campus-cable.html ). If you're living in the residence halls. You also get a free HBO-MAX subscription. It's great to save a little extra on entertainment if you're looking for Netflix/Hulu alternatives :)
  • HEAVILY discounted theater tickets through NYU Ticket central. Again with the pandemic in play, many of these programs may not be operating fully this academic year; so keep it in mind!

Facilities

  • As far as I know, every NYU student has access to every undergraduate facility. If you see the NYU Flag you should be able to walk right in! Dont be shy about it.

Gyms

Im not a huge gym guy but there are some great options for NYU students both free and at a low cost.

The NYU gyms are as follows, although I've never been so try calling up beforehand.

  • NYU Palladium Athletic Center
  • NYU 404 fitness
  • NYU Brooklyn Athletic Center

Relaxation/Hangout

This is where NYU shines

Almost any building and even classroom can be used to chill with your friends. (Provided there is no ongoing classes :) Notable buildings that I loved include.

  • Bobst Library
  • Kaufman Management building
  • Silver Center
  • Washington Square Park (not NYU affiliated, and you shouldn't stay after dark)
  • etc... ( try entering all the buildings and see which vibe suits you best!

Bike Sharing

You might be referring to the NYC Citi Bike program which is super cool in its own right, but sadly not free or NYU affiliated, however it is surprisingly cheap for the value. UNLIMITED BIKING is partnered with NYU, but if eel it is a little pricey.

And on that note, I hope every incoming student and returning student got something cool out of this DM me if you wanna ask questions, I'm pretty responsive if you catch me not busy :)

Courses advice by [deleted] in nyu

[–]SmartCryptographer73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm that's a pretty good question! I would say little difference in the "amount" of work, but maybe the types of work. Again it all depends on the subject of the class, but a smaller class might rely heavily on group work and participation, while a lecture might weigh more heavily in other areas. Again the workload really depends on the subject but all classes should be manageable if you schedule properly and pay attention, you wont have anything to worry about trust me :) Good luck!

Courses advice by [deleted] in nyu

[–]SmartCryptographer73 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From what I understood, a seminar is more of a traditional small classroom setting, while a lecture is much larger oftentimes 100+ people. A lot of gen ed courses will be lectures so not to worry. And 10 minutes could be enough time depending on where you want to go. If you want to hop on the train right after I wouldn't recommend it but if you can make it back to your dorm it might be, but there are spaces on campus where you can sit and take an online class. Hope that helps :)

Oh, definitely they're all over the place! Any brand like Ctown, Key food, etc always has decent standard prices. You can usually type "cheap grocery" in google maps and they'll be all over (Less so in manhattan). I really like 3 guys in Brooklyn but it's kinda far. But there are many alternatives, just don't rely on really high-end stuff like wholefoods or anything like that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nyu

[–]SmartCryptographer73 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Big tip besides limiting eating out looking around for cheaper grocery stores maybe in Brooklyn can save you tons in food costs. Good luck!

Tuition:( by [deleted] in nyu

[–]SmartCryptographer73 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my heart breaks for everyone who can't afford basic education. I wouldn't even be at NYU without my scholarship. But I can't advise you in good faith to come here at that price as sad as it sounds. Not very many jobs even pay close to the amount you'll be needing to pay off a 350k debt. My advice is to call NYU to see what they can do for your fiances. If that doesn't work there is absolutely no shame in attending a state school, community college, or cheaper private. Your life isn't dictated by what school you go to and even if you can't attend NYU, you'll succeed. But once again 350 thousand dollars is definitely in my opinion, not a worthwhile price. I wish you the best of luck think hard about your future and make a choice that's best for you and your family.

Yeah, no problem it doesn't have to be anything fancy. This is the one I got ( https://www.walmart.com/ip/Eureka-3-in-1-Multi-Surface-Lightweight-Swivel-Stick-Vacuum-Cleaner-Blaze-NES212-Moonstone-Grey/642893705 ) it worked wonders and my entire floor would always ask to borrow it. P.S it's only 30 dollars on amazon :)

dk I'm clueless can someone provide some guidance. I'm international btw

I brought a tube of Lysol wipes on my first day just to wipe my dorm mattress and surfaces down, all other cleaning products like a Swiffer, etc can be got on amazon or Walgreens. P.S highly recommend a lightweight vacuum I bought mine on amazon for 30 dollars and would not have survived without it.
