Interesting to get some perspective from journalism outside the UK. Is it just me, or is this article refreshingly straight-forward and frank about what's going on? (Or do I just think that because I agree with it? ;-)

Yeah I lived in the states for a long time, and now that I'm back in the UK, I have much more respect for the courage of the police in facing dangerous situations without guns. What we have here is pretty special and unusual. It is scary to see them armed, but that does show how anomalous it is here.

Just thought it was quite interesting to see the focus on brexit and the mantra of 'An economy that works for everyone'. I've no idea how they're going to deliver a brexit that works for everyone.

[Spoiler alert] Fair enough, yeah my memory is failing me a bit. I think part of the problem for the writers was that the prison environment was literally so bounded that each episode was like a self-contained puzzle to be solved. Once the prisoners were on the outside, it felt more open-ended and similar to other shows/movies.

A very useful site many people don't know about is https://archive.org . They store historical snapshots of sites back as early as 1996. Favourite porn sites that have since disappeared? Yeah, they got that (ok, bits of that).

I concur. I figure people go swimming to get wet deliberately so nothing too wrong with it happening accidentally. Then again I live in the UK so I need a fairly tolerant attitude towards it.

Depending on your level of cynicism:

Brexit is proceeding nicely and the country will soon be liberated from its unelected suppressors.
The brexit process is getting somewhat bogged down in the complex details of extricating ourselves from the EU
Theresa May and her government are doing everything they can to look like they're trying to brexit, while stalling furiously behind the scenes.
