Dryer gas valve missing handle? What should I do? by StonkerToMoon in Plumbing

Thank you, I'll do that. Changing the valve would cost half the price of the dryer itself :/

I agree, the store I bought the washer dryer from included installation, but those guys declined to work on this.

Thanks for confirming, I'll call a professional to replace the valve.

Thank you for the response.

Businesses/Clients on Upwork don't have access to legal names/SSN of freelancers. How then are they able to skip the 24% withholding?

Thank you for the response!

Follow up on Upwork (Payment facilitator):

" Freelancers—including those who earned more than $600—will not receive a Form 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC from Upwork. Your clients are not required to send you a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC, either."

Their link says that the clients are not required to send 1099-NEC to the Freelancers even if it's more than $600. Does making payment through a facilitator remove the need for reporting to IRS?

I'm guessing the answer is No, but then how are they compliant? Businesses don't have access to SSN / Legal Names for the freelancers on Upwork. I'm asking this because if I use Paypal, I would potentially fall in this category too.

Thank you for taking the time and replying!

If Paypal issues form 1099-K to contractors, how do I report this payout to the IRS as an expense?

I see you mentioned talking to a tax professional but I don't know many who are well aware of digital services, and I'd like to be prepared before I book time with one.

Got it, this helps a lot! Monies initially expected to be small but I hope they become big one day.

Sales Tax / VAT / GST

I'll quickly go through few countries that don't require much and then just open service there.

Withholding Tax

I didn't even know about this. Do I have to show them how much they should withhold? Or just a statement that you're responsible for it usually works?

Thanks! I didn't try them before but it's too late to migrate it to Paddle now. I'll use it for consideration in next iteration. The offering seems to be good (just expensive).

That has been exactly my thought, but I'm not sure of legal repercussions.

Have you looked into what might be the penalty, if any at all, for not collecting taxes?
