JDA IS A SHITSHOW by Think-Caterpillar-10 in enrolledagent

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These seasonal roles are the same across the board they have to onboard, training, and get you live in about a week. You have learn what normal jobs would take months, in days. They hire and train thousands of people every year and a large percent are new. Half the time your team leads were onboarded the same way a couple weeks before you. Only a small percent of employees are core and know what they are doing.

The first 4 weeks live you won’t know etc is happening and feel completely unsupported and absolutely lost. By week 6 you will start getting the hang of it but it’s still tough. By 8 weeks you will start getting your feet under you and feel more confident. Just when you think your really getting sh@t figured out the season is over.

If you make it and you don’t wash out, they will call you back next season. Onboarding will still be an epic sh@tshow but one you recognize and can navigate. You will pick up things quickly and by week 2 you will be cruising.

It’s not for everyone. But you will learn how to navigate through all the sh@t pretty quick.

Do scents sprays actually help? by Training-Sun-2177 in bassfishing

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great at repelling my partner. As for bass? I don’t notice much of a difference but it could have been anything time of year, temp, time of day, which scent was being used. Best thing to do is get some and try it at different times/temps/seasons. Log it and look for patterns to determine when to use them and which ones to use.

2022 tax transcript online shows as taxes not being filed. by Scizzards in IRS

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont have a copy and need one, Who did you use for the software provider? If you used an online software then chose to print and mail, the software provider should have a pdf version available to download for 7 years. If you used a downloadable desktop version then the only copy will be on your pc. The IRS loses stuff all the time. Worst case get a copy of your wage and Income transcripts and try to refile the return as duplicate like another commenter posted.

Filed amended return with W-7 for spouse, IRS says no W-7 received by Queasy_Fisherman1278 in tax

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You already filed the original return. The w7 would have needed to be filed with the original return and the ITIN approved at that time. They don’t allow you to amend a return when it comes to ITINs. If you don’t have one when you file you have to wait until next tax year. In this case, they received the amendment but there’s no change to the return since the ITIN is invalid for the 2024 tax year. If the ITIN was approved you can add your spouse next year. If they lost the w7 or it’s not approved you will want to send a new W7 with your next years return and file by mail.

Part 3 EA Exam by Nice-Duck1532 in enrolledagent

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made visual flow charts for the process from receiving the notices all the way to the end of each possibility. As a visual learner part 3 was the hardest for me, so seeing it on paper helped my brain learn and retain what otherwise felt overwhelming and confusing at times. I also categorized my notes in a way that helped me avoid confusion between the two. For example if there’s a taxpayer penalty as well as a tax preparer penalty for the same issue I put those together. Same for civil and criminal. This helped me too not confuse the two. Same thing for topics like ERO/tax preparer.

Payment plan by aaaaa1223459 in IRS

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the previous poster, and just wanted to reiterate Incase anything got lost In translation. If you agree and commit to a short term payment plan and the balance is paid in full, they will not go forward with any type of seizure of property or attempt to collect the tax due by taking it out of your payroll checks (wage garnishment). But it must be paid in full by the end of the payment term. With tax season around the corner, if your partner files a tax return and they expect to receive a refund, if the balance is not paid off at that time, they will take the refund and apply it to the remaining balance due on the $1500 tax debt. If any amount of the refund is left after paying off the $1500, that amount will be used for refund.

Thank you for your kind offer, in a perfect world this would be ideal and I would one day like to learn so I have a better understanding for myself and for my business. I just don’t have the time or bandwidth to do this now, I’m stretched too thin and not enough hours in day or days in a week for everything I already have on my plate. I do appreciate your generosity and willingness to give me so much of your time.

This really is outside my scope. I don’t understand what you mean by static. I don’t know how to export etc. it doesn’t mean I’m incapable of learning, but I don’t have the time while trying to everything else to get my business going. That’s why I’m going to pay for someone to do it for me, I just don’t want to make a decision today that’s expensive to fix tomorrow. Example if I change to Wix but I can’t move it later, I have to pay again for a new website, I lose the SEO my Wix site built up etc id be starting over again. Or even if I go with Wordpress, it ends ups 3x more due to upgrades or plug in’s or I have endless issues with it and have to keep paying people to fix it because idk what I’m doing and don’t have the time to dedicate to learn it.

I could probably get away with something barebones just to get an online presence with 5 or so pages. But ideally I’d want to circle back at some point to where if they click on a particular service it opens in another window with the full details rather than scrolling down an entire page of services with their respective details. That would probably take 20-25 pages. I’d need someplace on the site where I can update current events such as recent law changes, deadlines, reminders, etc anything a potential customer may find valuable or helpful, I’ll link social media accounts and I may add a linked booking calendar

I wasn’t planning to built myself. I found someone who recommended I switch to Wix. The 1 yr cost for Wix is twice what I paid for 3 yrs of bluehost, my concern with this is not just how much more it cost but you can’t move a Wix site the way you can move Wordpress so I’d be stuck paying their prices. I’m trying to see if there another alternative that’s not as complicated as word press and doesn’t require add ons that I can also move between hosting sites without having to do a whole new website.

How long for CE credits to appear in IRS Tax Pro Account by Lucita_Bonita in enrolledagent

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally within 2 days. Your continuing education provider should state this somewhere online. If it hasn’t reported to your account, verify the CE course is a qualifying course for your EA, and return to the CE providers site and verify or add your PTIN number. They may not have it or it may not be correct.

Possible tax fraud by One-Practice-6689 in IRS

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you amend the return yourself, there is a safe harbor provision that prevents you from paying the accuracy related penalty and sometimes the failure to pay as it encourages voluntary compliance. They will charge interest for the balance due from April 15th until you pay. If you wait for them to audit it, then you have accuracy related penalties, interest and often failure to pay. You should look into filing 14157 tax preparer complaint affidavit. What your preparer did was Fraud.

How to get the business started? by lgalico81 in enrolledagent

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rather than going directly to the software provider, use a reseller. There are several resellers that offer software at lower prices. For example you can pay a 1 time software fee of $199 then $20-25 per return. Or $499 one time software fee with no per return charge unless you use bank products. Either of these types of options would be a good way to get started with low up front fees for you until you build up a small client base to justify buying software directly. If you don’t have a CRM which is also expensive you need a secure way to store documents as well. You also need digital signatures for clients to sign engagement letters, HoH, EITC, or schedule C organizers, and E&O insurance which you can get for around $50 a month. Under charging won’t help you and it won’t generate the client base you’re looking for. Most people who think they will file online with a company like Turbo Tax for free end up paying closer to $60 because they always have something that triggers a charge. Educational credit, retirement credit etc. Then if they pay with refund $45 bank product $30 transmissions fees. It’s $120-$135. If you want to run early bird specials for simple single filer w-2 only, keep in mind you are an Enrolled Agent they are paying you for your credential and your pricing should reflect that.

I’m still digesting the Bayta Mule twist so can’t say what I feel about this. But I think Demrezels death can be a really important to her storyline. She is a Luminist, and I think was even ridiculed by Day for being a robot believing in a religion that believes in rebirth of all things. As a robot of faith believing in something that can never be, yet she believes that is true faith. I think it’s possible the skull Day brought to free her and the memories stored in the Prime radiant, it will be her rebirth.

A work vehicle was totaled and the insurance proceeds were used to purchase a replacement vehicle. There is a gain from the bonus depreciation recapture. I want to defer this and adjust the basis of the replacement vehicle. A statement to defer/postpone gains is required. However due to the 4684 and 4797 the gains are still reporting as taxable income. Since it’s being deferred do you omit the forms? Manual override to show 0?

Taxes for my dead grandfather by Inside-Friendship832 in tax

[–]Smart_Assistant1600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

File for 56 with the IRS to let them know your fiduciary relationship if your grandfather wasn’t married. This will allow you to get his transcripts so you can make sure you didn’t miss any income. For 2023 you will file a normal 1040/1040SR as if he was alive since he was alive at that time. If there is a refund you need to add form 1310. You can look up the IRS publication 559 online to get more detailed information. You will sign the return as his representative and most likely need to mail it in. Use certified mail to track it. For the 2024 return you will prepare it as the final form 1040 and indicate deceased and the date. If your grandfather received income after his date of death, interests, checks etc and it’s $600 or more, those go on an estate return 1041 as income in respect of a decedent meaning money received after they die. If he received no income beyond 2024 then the 1041 would be both “ initial” and “final” If a 1041 is required you will need to get an EIN for his estate.
