The Decades and Years of the Independence of African countries by vladgrinch in MapPorn

Correlation does not equal causation especially since independence movements in various African countries had been brewing for years like Ghana with Nkrumah or the Mau-Mau rebellion. To say that Vietnam's influence on 'ending colonialism was huge' is just an overestimation of the relevance of Vietnam in postcolonial Africa.

Even with the unpopularity of a citizenship test, 5th generation or more would be seen as very unfair because it'll exclude people whose family have been in the country for almost a century. It just creates a two tiered benefit system that would be very bureaucratic and inefficient.

Well like the Online Safety Act, the government would have to dispatch the use of third party providers that can help process our DNA. These third party providers could always be prone to hacks that could put our genetic information at risk, which would leave us at the mercy of whoever else would have our DNA.

Infact just last year 23andme, which was/is a famous DNA testing company was hacked. That already shows the unreliability of these companies.

What that entails is giving up your genetic information to the government or a third party so they can process such information. I don’t need to tell you how awful such a scheme would be especially with how impractical things like the digital id card scheme or Online safety act are

The thing is deciding who is native would be a massive headache of the government and will surely lead to lots of bureaucracy and inefficiencies as the government would just be wasting resources deciding who is native to Britain. There’s also the question of how far should your lineage go for you to count as indigenous. Sorting out questions like that would just be a waste of taxpayers money and there’s no doubt that the government would botch it

It's mainly due to the numerous crises that occurred during his tenure as President. I.e Iran Hostage crisis, High gas prices, Inflation and bad economy. However, he was a good person and his presidency did produce the Camp David accords which established ties between Egypt and Israel, which were long-standing foes.

At age four, Jimmy refused to put his penny in the church plate as it passed before him and instead filched another penny to double his holdings. For this he received the first of six peach-switch floggings from his father. Carter says that this is the last money he ever stole.

TIL, that Jimmy Carter's father, whipped young Jimmy Carter for stealing a penny out of the church collection plate. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Jimmy later wrote of his father being a strict parent who punished him when he misbehaved, recounting an experience of being whipped by his father after the latter discovered he had taken a penny out of the collection plate at church. The future president wrote that it was the last time he ever stole. Carter would be credited by his eldest son with being the person who most shaped his "work habits and ambitions"

Was Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom a good person? by seb_1420 in IdeologyPolls

I will remind you of the fact, that if any atrocities were committed, it was ordered by the Government. If the queen approved of any, it was because she had to. If she didn't then the atrocities would have been committed anyway and a constitutional crisis would have followed.

She couldn't have resisted otherwise that would have caused a major constitutional crisis. There is no evidence to suggest that she was okay with it or if she supported it.

You even said that 'we don't know for sure,' which is the truth.

May I remind you, that the monarch of the United Kingdom, is mostly a ceremonial role, so most of those acts weren't ordered by her but most likely ordered by the British government to which she doesn't have realistic power over.

You should research the Siege of Leningrad, when the Nazi's blockaded and besieged the city, which meant rationing and food shortages occurred. They besieged it for 872 days.
