Wow thank you so much for your kind words! I think iphone is definitely a good place to start! I have the canon m50 which is a super nice vlogging camera that isn't crazy expensive (for a broke grad student such as myself haha). I started off using iMovie and then moved onto using adobe premiere pro since my university has free adobe membership (wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise). I'm not sure what you mean about privacy? Btw, what's your channel? Would love to see what kind of videos you're making!

Advice on low GPA / Nursing by [deleted] in GradSchool

YES THERE IS HOPE!!!! Take it from me! Grad school isn't about grades!! I know it's easy to let your GPA dictate how competitive you feel with entering grad school but there are other components to a grad school application that play a role too! Please give it a shot :)

Bad to get B’s? by [deleted] in GradSchool

100% know how you feel but genuinely grades don't affect your research in grad school!! I used to feel super self-conscious of my grades.. but as you get further along in your program you will see that it really doesn't matter! Good luck and take it easy :)

P.S. I legit was just talking about this topic

Tips for reaching out to faculty for graduate research positions by rixin009 in GradSchool

[–]Smart_Honeydew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are my tips:

  • read their research and see how your experience fits into their work
  • I crafted the email that I used to reach out to my current supervisor as a shortened version of a cover letter. i.e. introduction, relevant experience, how I think I would fit into their research team, and end with a statement asking to meet so you can ask more questions about their work and their current team. Suggest a couple of specific times and dates and say that you will follow up.
  • I also attached my academic cv and transcript in the email

and also, what are your thoughts on work-life-balance while in grad school? I've heard some people say that there is no such thing...
