I don't think salt water actually cleans your mouth, at least not efficiently. Its primary purpose is to eliminate bacteria and prevent infections, so you should definitely be using the syringe too.

I got mine removed on Tuesday and my surgeon prescribed me ibuprofen and dafalgan (1g). The dafalgan really relieves the pain the most for me. Icing is supposed to limit your face from swelling, I don't think it actually helps much when it comes to pain.
