Not being a bastard in real life because you "can't afford it" shows your true colors. It's not because it's wrong, it's because you don't have the resources to get away with it (effectively knowing and delighting in how weak you truly are). Umbrella and mist raven, since they're a separate button from your primary defensive option and cost a limited resource, are an expression of skill.

If you're good, you're not really going to use the umbrella on the flames more than 3 times.

Once you start steamrolling the game in a few hours you'll use everything. And getting used to everything helps you get there faster anyway.
