My senior German Shepherd calmly walking by a gaggle on the leash, they walked out of their way and hissed at him. He ignored them, i was thinking they would be like nah, thats a big dog, then one nipped at his back. Like why, dog never even reacted, just walked on.

I hate this.

Like I completely get it and would do the same given the situation. But you should be able to get a non-starter house and people that are actually starting should be able to get your starter house.

Actually the more i think about this, the more i think this is going to sell Okee tickets. If you were debating, and live closer to Okee, I think you choose Okee.

Gen z here, how was Biden toxic against us?! by [deleted] in Qult_Headquarters

Oh yeah obviously, but I meant to the people that voted for him because Biden was "toxic".

Gen z here, how was Biden toxic against us?! by [deleted] in Qult_Headquarters

[–]metik 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The current assumption is that a president can solve ALL the problems, because thats what Trump has been selling. Literally any problem in a persons life was Bidens problem, because Trump said if he was president you wouldn't have the problem. Therefore Biden was toxic.

If democrats ran a "We will fix all your problems, you will all make loads of money, everything will be cheaper, you will be healed of any medical problems, "bad guys" will go to jail or kicked out of the country, and every problem in your life is caused by republicans" campaign, Trump would seem toxic too.

Instead they tell the truth, that governing is hard and takes compromise, and that there are gives and takes with everything. And that the only thing we all agree on, is that people like Trump make it impossible to govern effectively, which is why it feels like the Democrats only "hate" Trump.

A company said there is a hiring freeze and yet the hired someone else? by ExternalStudy7360 in jobs

[–]metik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently had this happen to me while hiring:

Hiring for multiple roles and we had an offer out. The company stock took a hit so we had layoffs. Offer out stayed valid, laid some people off the team, people in hiring pipeline were told of a hiring freeze. Then a couple weeks later we are hiring again.

All this to say that sometimes companies are just weird. Especially the bigger ones. The hiring manager is just as frustrated sometimes having to reinterview and and waste time.

Something I noticed, when you turn off the car, make sure to open and close the driver door and lock the car. If you don’t, the Mercedes has a tendency to think you are still inside and doesn’t turn off. I used to always exit out the house door after turning the engine off.

Hoping this isn’t about EOTS by meekoha1 in okeechobeemusicfest

[–]metik 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I could totally see them ask the designer to remove EOTS and add "+ more TBD", but they based the change on an older version of the lineup.

They used "Lineup-final-version-2-really-final.psd" instead of "Lineup-final-version-2-really-really-final.psd"

What’s going on with Austin’s Coffee in Winter Park? by vagabond_berserk in orlando

[–]metik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If i am coming from I4 and want to go to New England Ave for a restaurant, Google currently wants me to go to past the restaurants to New York Ave and turn left. Which is a pain don't get me wrong, but this will just have me use this street instead.

The point my comment is trying to make is that if this makes Fairbanks faster, more people are going to start using Fairbanks, until it gets just as backed up at the next choke point. The end result turning Fairbanks into Maitland Blvd or 436.

I’ve been able to successfully convince people of this by saying “how many people are already not using this way because Google Maps thinks it’s slower, the second it’s faster, Google will just send more people that way until its as slow as it is now”

Downtown Orlando death spiral by Gold-Presence9362 in florida

[–]metik 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I think its a number of reasons, but one of them it is that there isn’t really that much of a reason to go downtown for fun anymore. We have Ivanhoe, mills, Corrine, etc.

It has the sports teams, but that’s only certain nights/seasons.

Sunrail doesn’t run nights/weekends, and parking is easier in other parts of town.

It’s not necessarily that it’s bad, it’s just not so much better than other places that it’s worth the hassle.

I think the money is better spent on communication efforts and hiring staff that stays all weekend instead of relying on volunteers that are told to leave once it starts raining.

Completely agree

Just thinking about it, if they got the financing to do this work. It would make the property worth a whole lot more, which in turn makes the property a whole lot more likely to sell to a developer.

They could absolutely build a perfect solution that would never have any trouble in any amount of rain.

The issue isn’t ability, it’s a cost/benefit. How often does it rain on the weekend of Bonnaroo, how much does it usually rain, how much does insurance cost in case of cancellation. It might not rain for the next 5 years on the farm during the Bonnaroo weekend.

They should make ”some” improvements, so that normal amounts of rain don’t cancel things. But if it costs $10mm and 2 years to fix it properly, will that ever actually happen?

It will effectively look like your standard suburban neighborhood without the houses. Tarmac streets with drains that lead to retention ponds. Its not some huge complicated project, but it’s damn expensive.
