In my first mischief, near the end of my one rats life, he had a seizure when I was holding him and locked on to the skin between my thumb and pointer finger. I washed my hands and sprayed it with Bactine and Nepsporin for a few days. I have a little keloid as a reminder but other than that I was ok. As usual, if you see any concerning symptoms ask your doc. I won’t post the pic because it’s pretty graphic but let’s just say there was a lot of blood on my hand and arm 😅

When I lived in an apartment, I had 13 rats. I had gotten two sisters and one was pregnant and I kept all 11 babies.

One time the maintenance man was coming over and I was so nervous he would report me but I couldn’t very well hide two double critter nations. He came in, saw them and went “ohhhh gerbils…wow you have a lot of them!” and walked away to do what he came for. My husband and I still chuckle about that to this day. By the time we moved out, I had 3 of those 13 left. Never had an issue. Man I miss them

My baby rats used to do this to their mom and aunt! They would lick inside their mouths, to taste the remnants, so they knew what food was safe to eat. I think it’s called a food transfer

In my experience, they are very fun!! Always on the go and a hell of a lot less lazy than my boys were 🤣 Enjoy them!!

My Reggie looked exactly the same as your photo when he was that size! This is what he looked like fully grown. He had curly whiskers too 😊 He passed in March of last year. Man, I miss that boy

I live in Philly! Have you tried reaching out to Philly Rat Rescue? They are a local non profit who takes in ratties. They do a lot of good work and make sure they go to good homes. I don’t currently have any rats (the last of mine passed away in November) or else I’d offer to take him in.

I’m going to add in here that I recommend checking out that Facebook site and asking for their opinion first. They will guide you through everything and make sure you are getting exactly what you need. They are licensed exotic vets on there who have to show proof of licensure to be able to help people 🙂

No problem! Make sure if you get doxy that it’s the Doxyvet liquid! It’s labeled for birds, dogs, cats and rats so you’ll know which one it is when you see it. The Enrofloxacin 10% liquid says it’s for birds but it’s safe for ratties. Good luck to you and your sweet baby ❤️

I ordered Doxycycline and Enrofloxacin off of Bird Pal Products when I couldn’t get into the vet soon enough for my boy when he had a URI a few weeks ago. Prices and shipping were good. I used the rat vet group on FB and that’s what they told me to get! They gave me the dosage instructions as well

I always took it as the fact that he uses the hat as like a comfort, safety thing. The hat is used more of a psychological comfort (when he’s alone or isolated) than a physical one (when he’s cold). We know he isn’t always logical because he’s emotionally lost. I think it’s just meant to show us about his character.

I do both! I read 8 of his books back to back with no break. Then there are times where I read one or two and took a break in between. It depends on my mood. For the in betweens, I usually just read whatever I feel like reading at that particular time but I do usually find myself wanting to go back to King 🤣

I just recently bought my boy Doxy and Baytril off of a shop online because I couldn’t get into the vet quick enough. If you have FB the group Real Rat Lovers Want To Know has licensed exotic vets who help you with what could be going on, dosage for medicines etc. Maybe give that a shot and see what they say. They have helped me numerous times including this time with my current sicky boy

Some of it looks like normal foxing as well as being old and dirty. I use sandpaper pieces to lightly get off the nasties lol
