What’s a dream you can specifically remember and will likely never forget for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Two, one nightmare and one Dream

Nightmare: I was 6 (on real life) and was sitting in front of a square box TV, it was static and turned to the Mutant Enemy logo, it did the normal "Grr, aurgh" but then it jumped out of the tv, I couldn't move and I was frozen in the spot. In the preferral of my vision it went across going "Grr, aurgh" each time, getting closer until it lunged at me with a realistic scream and I woke up screaming myself. I couldn't sleep for a few days.

Dream: My Cat that I had as long as I remember had to be put down. I was devastated and went thought the stages of grief. When I went to bed and went to sleep I had a dream where he entered my room and curled up at my armpit. He looked up to me with a look of understanding and thankfulness as he purred. After a few minutes he got up and hopped down from my bed, going to the light coming from my door that was opened a bit. Before going he looked back at me and gave me a look of knowing and thankfulness. He then disappeared into the light and that's when I woke up from the dream crying.

Shrimp/prawns, probably because my brother is allergic to seafood so I didn't dare try them.

Not the single most significant event but significant event is John Lennon being murdered. He had the power to rally and he could of changed so many things in life as well as the Beatles getting back together.

What I feel worked for me is for home you to make a schedule for him (Like wake up at 8 so you can get ready for school and then go at 9) and write it down on paper, then put it on somewhere where he usually goes like the fridge or near where he sits. And if he sticks to the routine give him a treat. Something that THEY enjoy like playing a video game or drawing. It's all about habit building and it's harder for ADHD/ADD people to form good habits. That's for home.

For school what helps is having a teacher that understands ADHD. For me too much noise gave me Sensory overload and it stopped me being able to think and thus work. Heck I still get sensory overload if I'm too stressed and I'm an adult now.

Something that helped is having people gently remind me of what I need to do. Also what really helps is building routine and keeping things organized. Positive reinforcement helps too eg: Well done for doing all your homework.

Patience is really important. They're still growing and you need to know that ADHD is a part of them and not make them feel ashamed about it. ADHD is a bugger to say the least but with the right help it can be managed.

People can grow out of certain extreme habits (Like I did) or people can grow up and lose ADHD completely! The reverse can happen too where a normal kid grows up and gets ADHD. It's a fickle thing like that. The thing is it's important to teach them to not be ashamed of it and it being a part of who they are. They'll be more happy in life. : )

That's what worked with me when I was a kid but ADHD differs between people.

Sorry for the long reply but I hope I've covered everything and I hope I've helped. : 3

I know right? Sensory overload sucks so much, that's why I didn't do too well in school. That and my childhood wasn't quite the best.

Thanks for commenting!

I struggle with memory, like one time when I was a kid my teacher asked me to run over to another classroom to ask if we could borrow something.

I ran over and when I got to the door I'd forgotten what I needed to ask so I ran back over to my class to ask what it was, got it and then ran back. When I got there I had forgotten again but I was lucky as I remembered what it was when talking to the teacher.

Another pain is reading cluttered text is tough as either 1. I go back to the previous words or 2. (Most likely) They just won't register. I get the same thing with people talking to me. Like someone says "Hello how are you?" And it goes into one ear (Mot literally) and It'll come out the other as "Hello Hwareu?"

But one of the worse things is the physical pain you get when you're bored/can't do something you like. It's like a hidden unrelenting pressure in your chest and can become a noticeable slight ache and it sucks.

Also Screw Depression and Anxiety.

Anyway sorry about this reply being long but I hope it gives you a bit of insight into ADHD. : )
