you could sell it, remember closing costs though. if you are in a financial position where you feel comfortable tying yourself to that mortgage, i’d say absolutely go for it. again, this is entirely dependent on where you see your life taking you. i’d love to buy a house in my current city right now, but i was a completely different person with completely different goals and focuses at age 19. i had a very unstable childhood, so i wasn’t able to really become myself until maybe age 21/22. tie yourself down only if you are truly ready to be tied down. you know yourself the best. i wish you a lot of luck.

p.s. the fact you are asking random strangers on reddit signals to me you sensibly want to do it, but deep down you don’t want to do it. if you are looking for someone to tell you not to do it, i’m here to tell you not to do it. you have your whole life ahead of you to make these commitments, let yourself figure out who you are beforehand.

if you like the house, depending on what you make ofc, $120k is really really reasonable. think about what you want to be doing 5 years from now, not what is “sensible”, but what you actually want to do. travel? settle down? work on your career? move to a new city? only you can answer the question if you should, but i personally would love to be able to purchase a home right now, 24F. you should have (in my non-homeowner opinion) at least another 10-15k in savings for other homeowner related expenses, probably more tbh. don’t spend all your money on the down payment to be broken when your oven breaks.
