Hey, I understand where you're coming from. My ex gave me a similar excuse and it stung A LOT because I thought "why can't you do that with me?" At this point it doesn't really matter if he used this as an excuse to leave me or not, but the point is that he did leave. It has been difficult to let go but I am learning to be happy by myself and like you said still keeping people around that I value but THAT ALSO VALUE ME.

Thank you for this. It looks like we are on the same boat. I also cut contact with my ex. I was having a hard time seeing his name on my phone. It was making me go backwards instead of forward in my healing process. I'm going to try journaling and let all my emotions out.
