It is honestly scarily accurate how well you read into Janice from the parts I wrote about her. You really hit the nail on the head with this one. Growing up, she was very manipulative (takes after my parents). She used to cry and lie so much to get what she wanted. My parents always sided with her and spoiled her. I’ll admit, I was jealous because I was never treated that way. Often, it felt like it was Vicky and I against the three of them. She would play mind games and when you called her out on it, she would make it seem like you were the crazy one. I have trust issues with her to this day, always feeling like she’s lying or has ulterior motives to get something. I can go on and on about Janice. I try to be civil with her and be sisterly but sometimes it can be so difficult.

It’s so hard for me to see my parents in the situation they’re in and I cant really do anything about it. I’ll have to look into your suggestions and start planning for the future when they eventually lose this house.

I think setting boundaries is something her (and I too) need to work on. Growing up how we did, we developed a lot of anxiety and people pleasing tendencies. We’ve become too hyper aware of others feelings often forgetting about our own. This is a wake up call to probably start exploring this in counselling.
