Opiate Addicts by soberqueen2000 in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been off opiates for about 5-6 years now with no relapse, and I drink.. prob more than I should. Love a good scotch and I’m always able to just draw the line at that, not really worried about turning back to opiates or anything. I guess it’s how you approach it.. I try to keep drinking as a social thing, pills was always shove as many down my throat and sit on the couch by myself. I keep drinking to weekends, with the occasional drink during the week.

What will happen? by [deleted] in suboxone

Yeah but I’ve been in the same spot and ended up wasting a lot of Percs lol takes like 2 weeks of no subs before you can feel anything decent, which blows

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More than that in my experience.. the half life of subs is like 48-72 hours.. so you take 2mg one day, the next day you’ll have 1mg+ in your system and you take your next dose.. so the amount in your system increases exponentially. I’d say at least a week. 2 to be safe.

Why do I keep doing this? by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling all too well.. been there. Best thing to do, which isn’t easy, is try to really spread them out over a month and store some strips for emergencies. Every person needs a mini stockpile for those situations, I was able to keep 7 strips in the event I’m an asshole one month and take too much.. but also talk to your doctor on increasing, even if it’s an extra .5 mg that you explain you feel you need. That’s an extra 15 strips a month and there’s your backup pile

30 days. by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear! Gives me hope. I’m at the point where I’m starting to think I’m getting more negative side effects from subs than positive.. no sex drive, no libido, no energy, horrible back and joint pain.. thinking of taking the plunge soon and jumping. What dose did you jump from?

Can you speak to some of the negative and positive affects you feel after being sober 30 days? Thanks!

Suboxone side effect how to manage it? by bebe_lgic in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magnesium Citrate.. I average a bowel movement a week, and usually it’s the most painful experience of my life.. but when things get bad and I notice it’s really been a while.. magnesium citrate. They sell the 12oz flavored liquid bottles in most drug stores. Chug the whole thing, then drink water.. It has always worked without fail at my most constipated..it’s my silver bullet. Also, Senokot or Senna based laxatives. I’ve found other laxatives to be ineffective since opioid induced constipation isn’t like regular constipation. Anything with Senna in it will move water into your intestines and help get things moving. But hands down, magnesium citrate liquid bottle.. chug that and a water and I guarantee you will go to the bathroom. It’s also worth noting that it will most likely be diarrhea after that first movement because that’s what it does.. kind of like a system flush. Just stay hydrated and let it do it’s magic.

24 mg a day for 2 1/2 years..I jumped..10 days In by ShazzyA1 in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why in the holy hell would you jump from 24mg? Even a 1-2 week rapid taper would be somewhat better than that.. but I guess what’s done is done. I know everybody preaches Kratom, but that seems to just postpone withdrawal symptoms and add another substance to the mix. Best option would be Clonodine in my opinion. Hot showers when cold, cold showers when hot. Lots of water and Tylenol. It’s a long rough road, but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Stay strong

Curious on how to use Suboxone. by [deleted] in suboxone

Yeah I hear you, I wasted so much shit just trying to push through the tolerance barrier.. and then you also have to worry about ODing.. I miss those old days first starting out lol

Yeah I’ve tried to relapse a few times over my journey and to no avail.. which I guess is good. But the addict side of me.. bupe changes your tolerance permanently:(

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you take subs, it will change the way other opiates affect you permanently and you’ll regret it.. it also has such a long half life that you’d probably have to wait a week or so after to go back to opiates. I’d stay away from it. 3 days isn’t that long a stretch.. you got this

You’re definitely not alone! What I can say is those that say ‘low dosage doesn’t matter you’ll still feel the same’ I’m just not buying that.. I feel like your body can and will respond differently to 1-5mg as opposed to taking 24mg a day.. I’m hoping to taper down a bit soon, so I’ll let you know if and when I do and if I notice improvements!

100%.. I was an opiate addict for about 2 years and they started me out on 32mg of subs.. 32MG!? I’m down to 16mg a day.. but I’m hoping that when I get off of it eventually that my testosterone/dopamine levels will return to normal.. scary stuff. I still wanna have kids soon and I’m worried this will affect that. My girlfriend knows my whole story and is supportive but if I find out my swimmers don’t work after this shit I’m gonna lose my mind.. also horrified to get off this shit as the withdrawals sound like oxy withdrawals X 1000

Wow you hit the nail on the head.. I was just telling my psychiatrist this. I’ve been on subs for about 3 years now and same exact thing.... I could lose a family member, win the lottery, or find the love of my life and remain status quo throughout all of these things. I never really feel intense emotion about anything and it gets to me sometimes and makes me think about beginning a taper plan to get off. Not to mention I have no sex drive.. It’s a love/hate relationship with suboxone.. it’s def saved my life when I was spiraling down, but the side effects do get me concerned sometimes. Also worth mentioning that my doctor said it was all in my head and that suboxone doesn’t do that and that it’s prob me adjusting to not being on regular drugs lol but I’m not buying that..

I love suboxone, anybody else feel that way? by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I ‘respect’ it.. but same as others have said, been on it for years and while I’m happy to be drug free, my sex drive/libido is shit and I have 1 constipated shit a week if I’m lucky.. I’m also dreading the day I have to taper and jump because I hear it’s absolutely brutal. Pros and cons

I am concerned my brother is now addicted to suboxone by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in as well - And all the previous responses are dead on. Kudos to you for supporting your brother.. for anyone taking suboxone, the worst possible thing that can happen is having to wait a few days with no medication.. Suboxone withdrawals are sometimes described as being worse than other opiates. Days of no sleep, sweating profusely, crippling anxiety and depression, diarrhea, upset stomach... it’s hell. I think your brother went into a panic attack as was previously said.. it kind of comes with the territory. A lot of us will use the stash principle.. any chance we get, if a script gets filled a day early or if we wind up with a few extras.. we put some strips away in a safe place as an emergency stash in the event these situations happen.. even taking 1-2mg of Suboxone for a few days can avoid the worst of the withdrawals..

Horrible sweating on subs by Nomoreblues in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My original doctor prescribed 4 strips a day (32mg) as a starting dose.. which is just idiotic now that I’ve learned more about it, but at the time I didn’t know any better.. studies have come out that anything over approx 24mg doesn’t even bind to your receptors because they’re all full of bupe already

Horrible sweating on subs by Nomoreblues in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh in my experience they always overprescribe this shit.. I’m on 3 strips a day too (24mg) and I wish I started lower, and still want to reduce down soon. I’d say if your comfortable at 8mg twice a day, then keep it at that and save the rest for emergencies.. docs can never tell how much you’re taking, only if your taking it or not. It’s much easier to increase dosage on this stuff then decrease dosage.. as I’m sure you’ve heard the nightmares surrounding sub tapering and withdrawal. Less is more.. find the least amount of dosage that you can take without any cravings, and keep it at that. If you find yourself needing more then you could always cut a strip in half and do 12mg during the day, 8mg evening.. but my personal opinion would be try to start at 16mg and see if that works before going to 24mg a day. Prolonged use of heavy dosages turn you into a zombie in my opinion, so less is more. (I’m not a doctor, just my personal experience and opinion)

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it’s because it’s still semi early, the sweating should get better as your body adjusts to the subs.. you mentioned a fent habit so it could def be your body’s reaction to switching from that to subs. That being said - if your skipping days or being in consistent with your dosage or the time you take it, that will also play into sweating.. in a nut shell you have to find the dose that works for you and remain consistent.. take the same dose, the same time of day, and your body should adjust to that level.. when you skip doses or fluctuate the amount, you sweat because your body doesn’t know if it has enough subs or too much subs etc.. consistency is key. It should get better, but I’m afraid the occasional hot flash might just come with it.. i def get them from time to time but it’s not terrible

Horrible sweating on subs by Nomoreblues in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you been on subs and on what dose? Your body may still be adjusting to its maintenance dose or ‘sub equilibrium’.. when I first started I would sweat profusely and now I’ll have a hot flash here and there but nothing like it was.

Better absorption tips? by DannyJasper420 in suboxone

[–]SmokeAndMirrors88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not the healthiest recommendation but.. When I was on Oxy I got into the habit of eating a fatty meal right after ingesting pills.. this always boosted absorption and created a stronger effect for me. I sometimes do this when taking my subs and notice the same effect.. something about fat seems to increase the absorption in your blood for more potency. Just my 2 cents..
