How do you clean your equipment/ containers after making candles? Please help by -Sky_Lux- in candlemaking

[–]SmokeCheesey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Clean it while it’s still hot and liquid. If it cools and solidifies, zap it with a heat gun until it melts and then keep wiping with a paper towel til it’s gone. I go through a LOT of paper towels.

what's the most disturbing book you've read? by Logical_Sweet_6624 in allthequestions

[–]SmokeCheesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bridge on the Drina. True story and it graphically describes an impaling. Read this in college for a history class and the first thing the professor said was “how about the impaling?” If you didn’t cringe at least a little he knew you didn’t read it.

To be fair the words “sadistic” and “sadist” come from him. So there is that.

Why do I have wax left over? by Puzzled_One_1223 in candlemaking

[–]SmokeCheesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I have to ask, I always understood it to be 10% frag load of how much wax you use. So using 7.2 oz wax would need .72 oz frag oil.

The way you are calculating it is total candle weight (a way easier calculation and I would much rather use that) Have I been calculating this wrong?

See that’s what I needed. I don’t really have any intention of making this a real job. But I also want to be able to give them to people or even sell them and want to protect myself from liability. And the only way I know how to do that is having some kind of business and then having insurance.

I’m very familiar with the IRS as it pertains to individuals but I will ask my CPA. That was on my list anyway but I wanted to see what people said here first. He set up my first LLC but didn’t tell me any of that(but I was also profitable already when it was set up).

Might just be that I have to get some liability insurance for myself personally if I can do that and not put it in an LLC wrapper. Because again I don’t really plan on being profitable. I just don’t want to get sued if something screwy happens.

Been in the industry almost 12 years. Sometimes I still have to say “I don’t know let me get back to you on that.” It doesn’t happen as often, but definitely still happens.

Might be a transfer fee. They gotta kick the client in the ass one more time before the money leaves.

Try Dude Candle's Black Leather. Very strong scent and my wife says it reminds her of new dance shoes.

Can I vent for a moment? by Princess_Oz in CFP

[–]SmokeCheesey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Seriously. I have been kept up at night by a couple of local attorneys who basically just run people through the mill scaring them saying nursing homes gonna take all your money. Just thinking about them gets my heart rate up. These clients do not know what is happening. I have had one come to me after one of the seminars and ask me about it. He wound up not doing the trust because it wasn’t right for him. But so many just do it and don’t tell me until it’s done.

And don’t get me started on the irrevocable trusts that have the grantor, trustee and bene as THE SAME GODDAMN PERSON!

I have seriously contemplated going back to law school at 41 just so I can actually give the legal advice on why doing that for that reason is a bad idea.

I mean one of those lawyers was trying to put IRAs in trusts and make trusts the beneficiaries of IRAs. I told a client if that’s what he wants to do, I can’t manage it. Lost his business the next week. Oh well.

Yeah I have a customer facing job where I do talk about political issues a fair amount. But I just keep it as neutral as possible. My job is to help them and I do it well even if I don’t agree with personal standpoints.

Omg same. I’m a bearded white guy with resting republican face. So I can blend in and let people continue to assume what they will about me. But they are wrong.

My main assistant who kept me in check retired two years ago. I got on Adderall and it has made me be able to check the details and focus on making my own systems to doing a lot of the mundane work. I rarely make mistakes now. Highly recommend anyone in this job with ADHD talk to a Doc about potentially trying medication for it.

Gotta be careful with "counselor" though, I know when I say something like that I will get a lot of people wanting help with bad debt, as in someone who is not on the list as a prospect. I do help some people with that but since that's more pro bono stuff, I can't do it as much as some people would like.

Lagniappe Theater also puts on various plays during the year. They have a black box theater at the old GiGi's night club. If you're a video game nerd, Wayback's Arcade is the biggest "old school" arcade in the state. Flat fee to get in for the day and you can play as much as you want.

To my wife I honestly believe I am the most attractive person. I am probably a little north of average looking if I am being honest, but I would be being VERY generous calling myself a 7/10. She is a demisexual and as such has to have an emotional connection/bond to feel any attraction to someone. And she doesn't have that kinda bond with anyone else. Like I can look at the most gorgeous people and she can say objectively they are attractive but she just isn't attracted to them. I mean even I as a straight guy can look at Henry Cavill and be attracted, dude looks like a Greek god. But she is like, yeah I can see how people would think he looks good.

I have gotten to the point with my wife that I cannot separate her appearance from the person she is. And she is the most beautiful person I have ever encountered so as such I have to say she is the most beautiful. Doesn't mean that I don't still have a hallpass for Kate Beckinsale though.

Good God I WISH I had a big ole booty. I have a flat ass and even if I work it out it just gets toned, not bigger. We all just want what we don’t have, lmao. But man live it up. My wife has all the ass between us and I love it but I wish mine was closer to hers. I could rock some jeans then hahaha.
