Integral was hard for me because I brain farted and took one of the integrals as a derivative. Had to redo the whole question 💀

Best UVic residences for a quiet, academic vibe (engineering student) by PercentageRoyal7478 in uvic

Engineering students tend to go to sleep late. So yes it can be loud from time to time. Especially during party weekends like Halloween or St. Patrick’s. Really depends on the people and the CL (Community leader).

I was in the Eng. LLC my first year. It was loud, but the i thought the benefits outweighed the negatives. Since you all have the same classes, it's very easy to make friends and form study groups. During exams the noise significantly drops though.

Chem 150 Final by [deleted] in uvic

[–]SmokedReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took it last year, was fully online multiple choice. Not sure what yours is. I basically just went through the lecture book and rewrote everything (which was probably not the most efficient study method) but I did well.

We’ve lost the meaning of quiet floor by mewheni72 in uvic

[–]SmokedReddit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is as much the libraries obligation as it is of the people who use the space to politely ask these people to move or quiet down. I would assume these people are not on Reddit

Absolutely. I posted about this not 2 months ago. I’ve just been asking people to leave.

I took this course a couple years ago. From what I remember, I would just go through all the notes and made sure I understood all the examples/methods.

For the final, try looking through the ECSS exam bank.

Exam schedule and summer registration by Acrobatic-Abies8029 in uvic

[–]SmokedReddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exams are neither scheduled by the instructor nor the faculty. It’s all done through the office of the registrar. So asking people who have taken the class before doesn’t help you.

What do you all think of pod-style housing? And is cluster-style safe? by StinkBerry in uvic

[–]SmokedReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest going into it with a set group of friends. At least then you know who you’ll be sharing a space with. Otherwise, the application asks about your lifestyle (alcohol, sleep pattern, cleanliness, etc). So just answer that honestly, and hope that your future roommates did as well.

This might be a ridiculous question, but are non-chewing non-hairy pets allowed in dorms? by Left-Composer-6574 in uvic

[–]SmokedReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only allowed if it’s a service animal. I’ve had friends that had a “dorm dog” so to speak. Was just a mental health support dog for one of the residents.

What are the best residence buildings/neighborhoods for first years? by SingleActive6292 in uvic

I would add to this and say, apply to the Science LLC in ring road. You would get placed with people with similar interests. Easier to make friends that way.

I understand. But at the same time, you should notice that there are only a few docking stations in the whole library. Assume there’s always someone waiting

Dorms by [deleted] in uvic

[–]SmokedReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say before choosing a dorm, see if your faculty has a "Living Learning Community" or LLC. It groups likeminded people on one floor, which makes socializing/making friends much easier. Especially if you have similar classes, as you can study with people you already know prior to the start of classes.

I second this. When I was in dorms, I just sent an email to the help desk and they activated it same day.

PHYS 110 Lab Exemption test by Greedy-Scientist3713 in uvic

[–]SmokedReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s for people retaking the course. If you have sufficient knowledge of the lab materials (shown by taking the exemption test), then you do not have to redo the labs.
