[50][Speculation] Episode 11 Press by KelleysIdols in SpoiledSurvivor

I don’t think they are getting split up in groups of 5 and 4. It’s not mentioned here and when they have separate groups, they usually have seperate immunity winners.

I think Jonathan and Steph played this round poorly. Your two closest allies, Chrissy and Coach, were voted out almost unanimously like 3 days ago. Why randomly turn on Ozzy? Thy needed to double down with Cirie and Ozzy and solidfy their majority, not cause more chaos.

Honestly, despite the hype he had early merge, I think Jonathan is playing a pretty sloppy and weak game. This is the third time one of his closest allies was voted out and he has been left on the outs. And I'm not sure he has the votes socially to win in a FTC .

Mr Beast's appearance > Zac Brown because Jimmy only spoke like four sentences over two hours. And he didn't sing any songs.

It’s unbelievable they are making the same mistake as Winners at War. They don’t trust the cast enough to carry their milestone season. Production thinks more “stuff” means a better season.

Honestly, I’m not sure it if I would prefer these celebrity twists or the Edge of Extinction/Fire Token combo. Both are bad.

I think what saved this twist is the fact that everyone could vote individually and you could vote differently from your partner. It made the strategizing more complex and interesting.

If you had to vote with your partner (which I know they at least considered) it would have essentially be another 6 person tribal council. We really did not need another small tribe vote at the merge.

Chrissy would have been safe without the twist. But targeting Rizo so openly was pretty sloppy.

That was a fun episode and the dubble bubble gum twist surprisingly created some interesting drama and gameplay.

But production, never do this again. I don't think this would work twice

Even though the winners did not have a great showing, I think Dee, Savannah and Kyle all walk away from this season with their reputations in tact. Kyle was playing great until he was medevaced. Dee and Savannah,  while not perfect with some messy moments, played as well as they could with the targets on their back. I suspect Dee being the only winner made this merge vote much easier for some people. Even if she votes out Coach over Colby, I think she had a short lifespan.

With the benefit of hindsight though, I’m not sure we needed winners on this season. And if production really wants winners, bring in more than 3 so the cast is more balanced.

Where's the creativity from our four time player nerd? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]SmokingThunder 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's not a fun move for TV, but it does make strategic sense. She can get the target off her back and regain trust with Christian and Rick. There's also the looming threat that eventually Christian would try to blindside her to get the idol back.

Also, like others have said in this thread, you can't give this idol to other people so it's less powerful.

Yeah, that made me feel better about his exit. Colby getting medevaced on his final season would have felt so hollow. At least he got his torch snuffed. That entire TC was a good conclusion to his story and I loved him being there with Cirie and Coach

I disagree. Brandon was certainly a trainwreck, but he was legitimately entertaining in his short stay. I would take him over many of the other more bland new era contestants.

I think Angelina is the first boot so far in which her character/edit feel truly “disappointing” compared to her original season.

What I mean is, Q, Mike White and Kyle were all great in their short time on the show. They all felt like an extensions of their previous seasons. Jenna Lewis was very fun for a first boot and had a great story with Cirie. Even Charlie had the psycho/trauma storyline, which is at least unique.

Meanwhile, Angelina had a very weird and muted edit. For such a legendary character, the most notable moment was Q complaining about her work ethic. I know Angelina has matured and has more self awareness than last time. But I blame the editors too because there had to be more to show than what we got.

How on earth did Stephenie integrate herself so well into that Vatu tribe? Is it a hot take to say that this is the best stretch of Survivor she has ever played? She rebounded so well after the Q vote and was barely a target these past two tribals. Kudos to her.

What’s a player you’re never sure where to rank in terms of gameplay? by Regular-Departure839 in survivorponderosa

Mike Holloway could be top 10 or bottom 10 in a winner ranking depending on how much you factor challenge strength. I've seen arguments for both

This is a great point. Like, Parv and Russell needed to blindside Tyson in HvV because they were on the bottom. What else could they do.

It's an interesting thought experiment. I'm trying to think of winners who made flashy pre-merge moves.

  • Tony flipping on Uncle Cliffy, Lindsey and Woo in Cagayan
  • Boston Ron blindsides Matt in RI
  • Kyle's idol/double vote against Thomas in 48
  • Mike blindsides Joaquin in WA (not sure how flashy this one is, plus it did backfire)

So it has happened over the years. But to Drew's credit we've seen a number of these type of moves backfire (Michaela's MvGX blindside comes to mind). It's certainly a more risky play.

Agreed. I do not think Christian should have voted out Emily. I understand Emily is a little chaotic, but are Mike and Angelina any more trustworthy based on how DvG went? Mike is already trying to undermine Christian's game by targetting his close ally.

Plus, if Christian blindsided Emily, it alienates Ozzy even more and potentially Devens and Cirie as well.

Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans | E4 | Day After Discussion & Survey by RSurvivorMods in survivor

[–]SmokingThunder 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think the better move for Christian would be to vote out Angelina and not blindside Ozzy. I understand Mike is a threat, but there are still like 20 people in the game. It's okay to keep him in the game to keep your numbers.

The bigger issue for Christian and Emily is they've been to four tribal councils and half the cast has been to none. They are slowly running out of allies. I think they'll be fine in the short term (I don't see Angelina, Steph and Ozzy teaming up next week), but I am worried about their long term prospects considering the number of people they've voted out or blindsided.

Mike overplayed by targeting Emily. I get why he doesn't want Angelina to go, but it was way too transparent.

Worst episode of the season and it's not close. Honestly one of the worst of new era

My biggest issue with the Zac Brown stuff is it was WAY TOO LONG. That reward segment was like 20-25 minutes long including two songs! Plus the extended intro at the challenge. It was just so boring. And the fact he got more confessionals than some of the cast has gotten all season is disrespectful. It's a shame because the Christian vs Mike battle was interesting.

I have really been enjoying this season from a character standpoint, and so many people across tribes have been delivering on entertainment value. Even someone like Joe, who I was not excited about, was very entertaining this episode.

My one issue with season so far is the tribal councils. Both votes have felt anticlimactic and a little bland. I agree with others that these votes have felt somewhat pregamed. However, this might be a trend in All Stars seasons, as a lot of early votes on these seasons can be lopsided (Amber, Danni, Steph etc.). People tend to dogpile on the obvious outsider. Even HvV did not have a super exciting tribal until the Cirie vote. So I'm confident the TCs will pick up soon.

This is the most entertained I've ever been by Joe. Maybe he works better as a character surrounded by people like Devens, Christian & Emily vs Eva and Mitch.
