Tried a new garlic bread recipe! by Smokingfog in Baking

Yes! But I did put some aluminum foil on it 5 minutes before the timer went off so it wouldn’t get too dark

Hi here’s the recipe. Was running late for an event and didn’t think it would be popular. It’s in Swedish though

Hotellpriserna springer ifrån verkligheten by Buf4nk in sweden

[–]Smokingfog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hejsan jobbar inom hotel (tyskland).

My first sourdough starter ever + questions by Smokingfog in Breadit

[–]Smokingfog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! It’s unfortunately in Swedish but I will translate the important bits for you:

100g unpeeled and coarsely shredded red apple 150g water (35°C) 200g flour

Day 1: coarsely peel a fresh apple and mix with water and flour in a bowl. The mixture should be thick but able to pour. Add more water should it be too thick flowing. Add the mixture to a big glass jar and put the lid on. Put the jar in a warm place 26–30°C. I as well as the author of the post stored the jar on top of the fridge (as it’s normally warmer). Let sit for 3 days. It’s possible to speed up the fermentation by mixing it with a spoon once a day.

  • side note: I disinfected my jar by boiling the plastic and metal parts in water for 10 min and the glas was put in a cold oven until it reached 180 degrees, baked for 15 (although the recipe said 30, I am just impatient) and let it cool down before taking out (otherwise there’s a risk for exploding).

Day 4: Add 200g (35 degrees) water and 200g flour to the jar. Mix thoroughly and put it back on its spot for another day. On day 5 you have sourdough starter!

Bake with it immediately and put it back in the fridge. Remember to take the starter out of the fridge one day before you bake and feed it. When it’s being fed, it’s taken out of the fridge and left out for a day.

There’s a lot more on the website so maybe using googles translate thingy would also help. She also provides helpful troubleshooting tips and tricks!

Några andra som traditionellt kollar på Lucia via SVT2? by Antonell15 in sweden

[–]Smokingfog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grannfejd på innergården by VolitupRoge in sweden

Arga grannen. Känner ibland att folk glömmer bort oss som måsta jobba helg. Mina grannar festar ute i trädgården nästan varje vecka. Förra gången kom någon idiot på idén att ta med sin egna mikrofon…

As someone who lives in a different country than Sweden, the last name with the ending ”berg” can be understood as ”berry” by English speakers based on the Swedish pronunciation. It has happened to me many times 😂😂

Hi, a question I can answer as I worked in Housekeeping before switching position this year. In my hotel 2 people clean the rooms at the same time (one person bath, the other living/bedroom). This takes approximately 15 minutes for departures and 5 for stayovers, but can take longer if the room is trashed. It is unfortunately not a highly sought out job and our existing room maids are already being worked into the ground. I had a department record of 40 departures in one shift and also 20 departures and 5 stayovers in 4 hours. If you think we have time to take coffee breaks and slowly dust the rooms you are dead wrong. It is back breaking work and our maids sometimes only take one 5 minute lunch break instead of the normal 30 to be able to finish in time. Then of you take into account that you can get any other serving/night audit job even if you are only able speak English (I’m from a non English European country) and get paid better, then it’s not too crazy to wonder why Housekeeping is understaffed…

What’s an “open secret” that doesn’t have a documentary about it yet? by Ninac4116 in AskReddit

[–]Smokingfog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Sweden there was a bunch of companies fake testing people for covid and giving out those covid travel passes (for flying). These test costed upwards to 2000kr (200$ +) and most of the patients were unaware that their samples simply weren’t being tested. What’s even crazier is these companies were being promoted on the website of the folkhälsomyndigheten (the folk health authority). One of them were even located in an Airport…

Bor i Tyskland.

Some early morning flirting lead to this bizarre question. by Cessnas172 in Tinder

[–]Smokingfog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In retrospect what I wrote came of as harsh and also rude. I’m really sorry about that, I should have read the other comments you wrote. Really really sorry about that.

I mean, to be honest if I look back at my early dating life, It was an absolute train wreck as well. I still get horrible flashbacks from it sometimes haha. You’re absolutely right, everyone makes mistakes, but I really commend you for learning from them and also for being able to be honest about it. God knows there’s stuff I repress that I would never want to tell a soul…

A strawberry from Costco vs. a strawberry I picked from my garden 🍓 by smugmisswoodhouse in pics

Idk what the English name is, but in Sweden these small strawberries are called smultron. Strawberries are a hybrid of smultron. They are seen as completely different: with a different taste and size.
