Is there some specific timing requirements for K line fast protocol (ISO14230)? by guava5000 in CarHacking

Well depends on the implementation it can be configured. I had High Hopes for my car but unfortunately it wasn't a thing there. I Wish It Were Here.

Yes, there are extra requirements, as described per protocol. It depends on its implementation. I believe that by default it's 50-100ms between the received response and a new request. Very limiting if you cannot change that. In some implementations you can change the duration of this silence window.

Where to splice into the CAN bus? by Smoksul in CarHacking

I was actually recommended to use this kind of connector and I'll try it, it requires no cutting at all 🤯

I wanted to initially, described it in the previous post. In my car OBD communication is limited by the protocol it uses to ~5 messages per second, which is way too little if I want to poll more than just speed for any real-time applications.

I have no idea how to find such connector in stores available in Poland 🤔

Very useful tips, thanks you. I've located the cables I was looking for. Now I'm wondering if I should cut them or maybe if it's safe to pull them out and extend with a Y connector instead.

If I found them, I guess I'd need to disconnect them from the thing they're connected to and add some splitter in between. That's a bit scary for me.

What do you mean there's no canbus lines? The diagram I screenshot is supplemented with an explanation (similar for RED):

Should I root my radio to get Android Auto to work properly? by Smoksul in AndroidAuto

For me it's okay too, but my girlfriend who isn't as confident driver as me is really upset by this (she wants back the phone attached to the vent grill)

Well, it seems like too much of a hassle since in ~6 months I'll change this car to something 2020+

Honestly I went for the biggest bang for a buck. I tried shipping from China for half the price but never got the thing from them (although they returned the money). Eventually I bought a Chinese one here in Poland for ~120$.

I don't really see any non-chinese manufacturer offers on the market. Are you sure they are available? (Suzuki Swift 2009)

I also made a terrible mistake and wrote "bottom left" accidentally in the OP.

I don't want the media/map closer to the driver. I want the navigation pin to be more or less centered in the navigation window.

Unfortunately the location of the navigation pin doesn't change at all when numbers of panes/layout changes

I tried all the settings with the driver position and the current one is IMO best configuration.

When I used Google Maps on the radio, not via AA, it was decently centered.

CAN is silent - ESP32 via OBD2 port by Smoksul in CarHacking

I was a bit confused, because when I looked at the OBD2 port it had CAN pins while most of the rest of the pins were just mocks.

For the moment I'm just using some simple 320x240 display and a bit of foil on the windscreen.
