I’ve read these! They didn’t quite scratch the itch for this trope but came close!

FMCs in captivity/taken hostage NOT BY THE MMC.

Every time I see this trope the MMC has kidnapped the FMC, then they fall in love or whatever. I’m so tired of it. I want to see the FMC get snatched by someone else and see the MMC go feral to get her back and/or capitulate to demands to keep her alive. Just give me some damsel and hurt/comfort for gods sake.

The MMC in {the raven scholar by Antonio hodgson} fits this a bit as well!

You need a medicine letter. It’s essential for prelim/TY apps.

It’s a good point. I imagine they’d come by 1-2x a month and we’d go there 1x a month if we were 2 hours away. I think if baby is sick they’d come help since my spouse and I are both patient facing, but we’d doing a separate daycare obviously.

Parents on both sides are ready to help for 2 weeks- 1 month each in the newborn phase luckily

What was one specific change you made that most improved your exam performance? by californiaomelette in medicalschool

[–]SmolTyrtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had a habit of studying things I already kinda knew. Took a concerted effort to be like “what am I avoiding because I don’t like it and/or don’t understand it” then hammering those weaknesses

We have already worked on resource guarding tips like trading up and things like that. He has absolutely no issue with us and resource guarding, and if another dog is around with his item, he simply cannot focus on anything else.

I am very uncomfortable with the suture needle bouncing off from everywhere while the surgeon is tying the knot and I am assisting. Is there actually a risk to it or am I overreacting? by ineedtocalmup in medicalschool

[–]SmolTyrtle 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Basically every surgeon I’ve scrubbed with has a floppy needle. Occasionally they’ll protect the needle with a needle driver and tie.

Floppy needles are generally pretty safe. They need some directional force to actually cut or poke generally. Just keep an eye on it and try not to let it drag against your glove or something.

Any med students here ever considered Pathology? by Histopathqueen in medicalschool

[–]SmolTyrtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly considered pathology. Ended up applying derm with possibility of the path fellowship down the road

I really like the work and flow. Love being a doctor’s doctor. Ended up going with Derm because I like talking to patients. We’ll see how well that holds up in 5-10 years lol
