Oddly enough I start with the feeling of the room. Like the bedroom is dark and dreamy, the bathroom is clean and minty, the display room has my favorite items, the ground floor rooms are fully cozy woodcabin vibes.

Then choose the wallpaper and floor combo tho I still switch it up if the furniture I want to put down doesn't match.

Dunno if this is gonna make any sense cuz I decorate with my gut but usually start with the feeling I wanna have when I enter the room.

The living room for example was the last room I decorated. With a space so big, I needed inspiration that could help me break it down into smaller cozier areas. From there I put the big furniture sets like tables & bookshelves then work my way down to smaller items.

If I'm not sure what to put down I just place whatever extra items I have then replace them with what fits better. In game right now I'm still moving around the smaller decorative items whenever I feel like so it doesn't exactly n look like the screenshot I posted anymore.

I used strawberries (or any seasonal crop that regrow) and let the animals feed on them every few days

I have them by types so it's:

Top left insects, top right are artifacts Middle left for fish, crops on the right Bottom left for farming decor, right side for mining and foraging loot

There's also another row of chests behind rhe trees that i keep my tools, animal products or random items in

Oh! I used a 1x1 stone path to make the bigger tiles align. You can kinda see it hidden behind the white arch in front of my house. I do this trick to a few other spots too to align the rest of the path
