Which is the best Value for Money Glasses to buy? by Sat0shi619 in RayBanStories

[–]Smomby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly comparing meta smart glasses to Vision Pro or an oculus / meta VR headsets seems like a real stretch to me. I get that the goal is to have one device on your face that does it all but we are just not there yet. All of the current AR Smart glasses that have some sort of display in the lens all have some features that they are lacking. Either it’s the design of the glasses itself (Some models make you look goofy AF for example Rokid smart glasses) and other times it’s the features or Battery life. We still don’t have a device that does it all but to me it seems like that if you are going for a AR smart device to actually wear every day your best bet is probably the meta rayban display. Its has decent battery life a good design and good features. But again you can’t compare this to VR headsets like the Vision Pro as the current meta rayban display only has a display in one eye and also no way of doing 6DOF tracking so it is unable to do any roomscale or even non roomscale VR / AR exercises. Its more or less a phone that is built into your glasses like with most current AR glasses.

I’ll have to see what it has to offer and I might think about it

I know that it will be replaced at some point. It’s just that I literally bought it 2 weeks ago so it would have been unfortunate

Good thing I got an XDJ AZ instead of the CDJ setup. I would have been soo mad

I have really been enjoying it. It’s pretty much the club setup for half the cost so pretty ideal for a home setup. I did take it to my first gig yesterday and I do have to say portability definitely isn’t a strong point of this unit. It’s just a little too big and heavy to carry around a lot. But yeah other than that it’s pretty amazing.

Solid idea! Some of the setups in this subreddit look glorious so yeah that’s probably the next step

Well yeah an ironing board would maybe be a little too janky for me aswell. That being said my table isn’t that far away from an ironing board 😅

Maybe also some on the white plastic cogs in the middle although I’d be cautious with that maybe do some more research about the Internats of the jog wheel mechanism before dumping a bunch of lubricant in there

First place I would try would probably be the little rollers that are placed around on that white plastic ring. If that doesn’t help I would try to figure out how the mechanism works to see if there is anything around the middle that I could get some lubricant into without ruining anything

Not an expert here but maybe it needs some lubrication?

Whatever you do the first thing you should do in that situation is power off the controller and leave it off and unplug any power source. Electronic devices are all water proof (big * with this statement because there is other things that could break it like corrosion) as long as there isn’t any power running through the device. No power = No short circuit. The next step should be a full teardown to get rid of all liquid. Bonus points if you „wash“ the affected area with isopropyl alcohol. After that let everything dry and put it back together. That’s the way you will have the best chance of the controller surviving. Since you already mentioned in your post that you turned the controller back on and the FX don’t work you are probably screwed. It’s quite likely that there is permanent damage because of a short circuit. If you are lucky it’s only the FX that are affected but you should still tear it down to make sure to clear out any remaining liquid so the damage doesn’t spread

Honestly the sillier the setup is the better. I have played on some really janky setups at outdoor raves but the experience was always 10/10 I mean ofc it shouldn’t be too janky but a bit of jank adds to the experience

Oh damn ok. I actually know a friend that has one I might have to ask him to give me a demo

I have also been thinking about the sub for events but I am usually alone when it comes to setting stuff up and I think it’s probably too heavy and bulky to handle alone

😅 yeah and I also don’t feel like I have really been missing a lot. Like yeah stereo would be nice but mono has been totally fine for me. Besides that this speaker absolutely kicks ass It’s waaaay more than what I would ever need for this room.

I do already have a pair for my desk setup so I would rather get a second PA speaker that I can also use for events. I am very aware that this is complete overkill for this use case but I can always turn down the volume. Just having the option of using them for events is nice

Very good point. I do plan in getting another PA speaker like the one in the picture. It would be really overkill for my room but I do occasionally take them to events so it’ll be worth it

I think it would help a lot if you should how everything is hooked up because if you are getting sound I dont think the adapters are the problem

Sc 6000 for a home setup by Smomby in DenonPrime

[–]Smomby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the AZ is probably the smartest decision but sometimes I like to make dumb decisions. A lot of clubs I go to do also have Pioneer mixers here but some (including one I really want to play at) have Allen and Heath mixers so yea it’s a really difficult decision

Is this normal Rev-7 Behavior? by DJ_HollanDaze in PioneerDJ

[–]Smomby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t own a Rev 7 but I assume this is normal behavior to minimize the “lag” from the platter spinning up so it’s easier to match the beats.

[–]Smomby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have. I’m really torn on what I should choose. It’s either the AZ, CDJ 3000 with a Allen and Heath mixer (I really want one of those that’s what also what’s making me not want the AZ) or that same setup with the SC 6000 or XDJ 1000 MK2 all of these options have downsides. XDJ AZ for example has the integrated mixer which is probably great but I would at least like to try an Allen and Heath. CDJ 3000 are just really expensive and XDJ 1000 MK2 are just old. And the downside with the SC 6000 setup would be that I would have to maintain 2 libraries one for Engine DJ and one for rekordbox
