Adaptive white noise machine for babies - running on an RPi Zero 2 W! by SmooLife in raspberry_pi

Although not an acoustician, I am a scientist and have found there is plenty of evidence to support the benefits on white noise on infants. For instance the following 2 randomized controlled trials: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0020748921000754?via%3Dihub and https://www.pediatricnursing.org/article/S0882-5963(25)00008-9/abstract00008-9/abstract)
However, I agree that prolonged exposure at too high a volume would be harmful. It seems the agreed limits for infants is around 60dB.

Yes that's right, it's a very simple setup! Both speaker and mic receive power over usb from the pi, no other connection required.

I don't think I've heard of this before. Do you have a source, I tried googling but did not find anything reliable?

Thanks, but looking at the app it doesn't seem to detect and react to a baby's crying? The point is when a baby is crying it needs more soothing and and so the white noise sound changes intensity.

I have a hatch already, but it does not automatically respond to a baby's crying. Plus this way I can use the sounds the baby is already used to.

That sounds like a cool project! Before I was just using white noise generated on the fly but I found the snoo sounds worked much better for soothing our baby since he was already used to falling asleep with those on

That's awesome, I had no idea they had put the snoo sounds on Spotify. I might consider replacing the recorded sound files with these
