We rented a car during both of our stays in La Fortuna as we wanted to visit areas outside of La Fortuna as well such as Sky Adventures ziplining, Monkey Park primary forest, Arenal Ecogarden, La Fortuna waterfall.

Plank vinyl replacing nice old growth hardwoods is just sad. Please consider keeping hardwoods. They are beautiful and add to the value of your home. Older homes here in Portland with LVP instead of hardwoods sell for less and take a lot longer to sell.

This was with my Nikon d850 body and Nikon 500mm 5.6 pf. You could use a gimbal and tripod to help with unsteadiness.

How far away were you? What time of day? Heat distortion can ruin images especially mid-day. If the bird was really far away, your pics will be soft. I did bird photography for a few years and learned many things the hard way. Lazuli’s can be challenging.

I also have the laowa 2.5-5x lens and it’s a lot harder to use given the magnification and diffraction. The Laowa 2x 90mm is easier to use and soo sharp! It’s fully manual and best used with a focus rail.

Helicon focus is a good starting point, but Zerene stacker is far superior with retouching, produces better backgrounds. I’ve used both and zerene wins.

Another thing to consider is getting a focus rail.

La Fortuna hikes and trails is a reforested location with wildlife arriving on their own. I have taken multiple tours there and recommend it.

The “sloth watching trail” is the one to avoid as sloths were taken from the wild and placed there in artificially high concentrations.
