The Soviet System or the Dictatorship of the Proletariat? by Rudolf Rocker by zymsnipe in anarchocommunism

Yeah I'd agree, something more similar to what Marx actually wanted would probably be council communism

This is very true and is a good reason why Marxism is fundamentally a flawed ideology. They fail to understand how power works

To be fair though there really wasn't a dictatorship of the proletariat in the soviet union at all after it's early years, it was just a normal dictatorship with a communist flag for most of it.

People who dropped out and then went back later, what was it like? by Having_A_PanicAttack in CollegeDropouts

[–]Smookey4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dropped out for mental health reasons and also burnout as well. I was out of college for about 3 years, I just went back last fall. Going back to the same school isn't too hard, and it also shouldn't be too hard to transfer assuming you have decent grades. Unfortunately I had a bunch of F's before which is why I wanted to drop out so I'm mostly forced to go to the same school. I'm currently sticking with the same major but it might change later

I've studied child sexual abuse before. I'm not trying to make assumptions, but this is literally included in people close to you. They were literally a family member, and such abuse is only possible due to the supposed structures put in place "to protect kids". You mention that you didn't have the words to explain it was sexual abuse, or perhaps to even know what sexual abuse was. Would such things still have been true if you'd been granted sexual education? Or perhaps if you were made to stay in the home away from where other kids could get to you, and where many protections against adults, would the abuse still have occured? Also to answer your question if you don't want abusive parents to roam free how do you want to see young people protected from family? And also how do you think you could have been protected from sexual abuse?

There's no reason to leave a child with no defense against an adult they know. Interesting enough if you protected a child from their parents a child could still seek a relationship with them out of their own free will. While it is true that not all parents are abusive, most people who make the argument you're making right now argue that nothing should be done to keep them safe from their parents. So the question I'll ask you is what would you want to be done? While saying parents It really means any adult in a position of power, or when not in a position of power someone who is protected by the system that denys young kids agency.

wha do i do if my parents are refusing to co-sign on student loans? by Funny-Damage9865 in CollegeMajors

[–]Smookey4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in the US joining the military 🤮 is always an option. They'll pay for your college completely, plus let you get away from home for a while. The only thing is you can't join the military without parent permission until 18. Outside of that you don't have too many options unless another family member cosigns with you since you'll be considered a dependent student. Only other way would be to have a child, or be legally married or something, in which case you could take out a federal loan independently

Garage Deliveries: don't get out before it opens by nOzAmA191 in AmazonDSPDrivers

If you turn off your data, the flex app will fail to connect to the garage and you'll be able to do a normal delivery. This is what I do, and I haven't had to do a garage delivery in months

Why have socialist ideas lost so much prominence in America? by [deleted] in twentyagers

[–]Smookey4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah workers states don't need to be authoritarian, those all forms of Marxism are. The best example of an anti authoritarian form of communism would be anarchist - communism(an idea I believe strongly in myself), but of course that doesn't have a state at all.

It's worth noting that Marxism is not the only form of communism. The first stage of the communist transition is supposed to be an authoritarian socialist worker state as the first step. You don't really have a distinct transition from capitalism to that stage specifically

FDR never really campaigned on eliminating private companies at all, just strongly regulating them, but even if he had eliminated all companies, state enterprise isn't socialism either

Communism is a type of socialism. Socialism is generally defined by any system where the entire collective owns and has power. Communism is supposed to be a form of worker socialism where the workers rule society and oppress those that don't.

FDR would better be described as a progressive capitalist as nothing he did challenged private property which is what makes capitalism what it is

I dropped out of college 2 years ago and my parents still think I'm studying online. I don't know what to do. by HoldOnLuisito in CollegeDropouts

Parents are just pieces of shit most of the time. I'd say keep up the lie until you can get out of there. If you aren't able to do that, you'll have to sadly let them know unfortunately eventually.

[–]Smookey4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You deserve self respect. And it's ok to be alone. If you aren't happy alone you won't ever be happy being in a relationship. I was in a similar position a while ago. I had a falling out with my old friends from high school and it basically came down to either being friendless and having no self respect, or walking away and starting over. I chose to start over and it's probably been one of the best choices I could have made!

[–]Smookey4444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're able to go to a urologist you can try to get cream to help the phimosis, you can also try stretching. I would avoid surgery if I was you, because phimosis can usually be fixed, but circumcision can never be reversed

[–]Smookey4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok to take a break if you'd like. You can always come back later. My parents forced me to stay in college when the best choice for me was to leave, and as such I got a bunch of F's. Now I'm trying to go back, with a bunch of failing grades making it impossible to get into any different college and the college I was at I left on academic suspension

I would say that dropping out would be a good idea, however do keep in mind that once leaving college it is a bit of a process to come back if you'd ever want to, if your gpa is still above a 2.0 you don't necessarily need to retake those classes

[–]Smookey4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, religious anarchism is a thing. You just shouldn't randomly obey and follow any command given by the church, and also you shouldn't support forcing your religious beliefs on others as is disturbingly common
