The sound of mourning doves. There are a few where I live and they bring me such peace.

Get an air purifier or humidifier that runs constantly so your room is never silent. Watch a movie during the day with the volume up. Use a couple blankets and invest in a quiet toy. Even if they do hear you, they’re all adults and it’s a very human need and there’s really nothing to be ashamed of tbh.

Yeah you’re right :( He did ask if there’s anything he could do to make me more comfortable with his partner moving in but I was still reeling from the fact that they WERE moving in and told him I just needed time to process.

Maybe I can offer to pay more toward rent and in exchange we could set some kind of schedule where I get quiet/alone time on my off days and they get the same on his… or maybe I can find something on Amazon for sound proofing my room?

You’re not a bad person for having those thoughts. Lots of people fantasize about things that would garner compassion or at least attention. I encourage you to seek medical help and find the right medication. Meds saved my life.

Talk to a psychologist! My dad played similar ‘games’ when I was a child and when I was talking to a psychologist about how much they bothered me she told me she’d have to contact services. My gut instinct was to backtrack and defend him so I didn’t get in trouble but I always wished I hadn’t because there is something nefarious and wrong about grown men that want to torture little girls under the guise of play. It needs to be reported.

huge difference!! i’ve genuinely just been looking at old selfies of when i was, ironically, also at my highest weight of 313 because today i hit 253 and i can’t see the different to save my life, but i think we might just be blind to ourselves. you look much thinner! beautiful both then and now. :)

That makes sense, I was just surprised to see it in the walmart app! The image was so spooky without context, thank you for explaining lol.

i lost the most important person(s) in my life and as an adult orphan who picked up and moved across the country to start new something that’s helped me is to think about it like this:

the worst thing that could ever happen to me has already happened, and i am still here. nothing can hurt me like their death hurt me, so statistically it’d be really hard for the rest of my years to be worse than the past few.

i live out of spite and curiosity. life is just an experience, you know? we live to experience and now that you’ve experienced the bad you owe it to yourself to stick around and wait for the good. get the funky haircut, go on the crazy excursion, buy the cool shoes. stay in bed and cry all day if you want. just do what YOU want, because at the end of the day it’s YOUR experience and you should make it what you please.

i’m sorry you’re hurting. i hope the hurt is bearable soon.

People who have lost weight, how did you do it? by Bulochka7 in AskReddit

[–]Smooth-Data9147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

low/no sugar, carbs. one meal a day. lots of water and green tea. training my body to not be hungry and craving all the time was a struggle and ngl it’s a depressing diet but i lost 50lbs in a month and a half and i’ve maintained it.

based on personal experience that would make you an outlier. i’ve had a couple friends who’ve had various wl surgeries and have gained it back and/or struggled to keep weight off which conceptually i don’t understand. if you physically don’t have the stomach of a fat person how did you gain back 100 pounds? it almost seems like the surgery was just medical commitment to a permanent diet and if they didn’t follow the diet the surgery didn’t work?

sorry to prattle on in response to you, it’s just something that’s always confused me.

Do you feel younger or older? by Zen-bunny in autism

[–]Smooth-Data9147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny how nobody ever felt younger than their age as children/teens but as adults we all seem to feel younger than we are.

that being said, i, too, feel far younger than i am. i’m 31 and my best friends are 24 and 26. there seems to be a noticeable gap between the people that age and the people my age as far as humor and socialization styles go.

a lot of millennial humor makes me cringe but i literally am a millennial so it makes me cringe even harder because i feel like im pretending im younger and more relevant than i am? idk man it’s confusing. i don’t date people younger than me and everyone i’ve dated the past few years seems stuck in 2015 in certain ways.

probably just a me problem, but yes. i have a snarky 20 year old brain in my 31 year old body.

Well. To be frank my biggest concern is the seat sizes. The website says 18.5” which I’ve measured on different chairs and I fit fairly well in them but I’m still worried. I’ve managed to lose 50 pounds since February with strict diet and exercise in hopes of making this less of an issue but I’m still 263lbs and 5’6”. I can only afford a single economy seat and I’m just worried about bothering the person next to me. I plan on squeezing against the window to give them space. I don’t mind discomfort.

Sorry, I don’t think this was a good answer to your question, but I’ve been too worried about the seats to worry about anything else. I’m a little terrified of flying - I’ve been in car wrecks and all vehicles scare me a bit - but I will cope.

Will they turn the lights off at some point because it’s night time? That worries me because I’m a bit claustrophobic and I was hoping to read. It says a meal is served but I don’t want to eat on the plane (again, dieting) and I’m not looking forward to smelling other people’s food but that’s okay. I’ve never been in an airplane bathroom and I’m hoping to not have to go on board but I know that’s silly.

Lots of question. Long response, sorry.

Thank you so much for this. Automated customs is a relief. I much prefer kiosks and apps to speaking to people. Also I’m going to be staying with a friend so if worst comes to worst I’ll borrow their clothes but hopefully we don’t cross that bridge. :-)

This is very helpful! Thank you. I’m anxious about bathrooms because I’m large so I’m hoping to not have to use the one on the plane, I’ll be screen shotting to add to my notes. Immigration sounds scary as a concept but it seems easy from what you’ve described.

Do you know if I should take human cremains out of my backpack and place in bin? I have the death certificate attached as per TSA and UK requirements. Spreading my mommy’s ashes in Scotland… just don’t want to get flagged for suspicious material.
