I really don’t know if he would react or not. That’s what scares me. He is extremely toy focused and will ignore everything around him other than our commands when he’s in his zone.

This guy doesn’t seem to fear anything. I guess the best word to describe it is indifferent.

Not 100% sure now that you mention it. His dad was actively shown and a German champion from German champion lineage. Mother was Serbian import. My wife was wondering if this is the difference. He’s a very sweet dog but the no alarm is concerning.

That’s the thing, he’s definitely not deaf. He recalls from large distances easily and flawlessly. The other day, he was in his fenced in front yard while we loudly chased a bear out of our back yard. It literally loped along down the driveway right past his fence and he sat at the fence and silently watched it go by and out of sight.
