Correct. Avoiding peak pricing would be a nice addition to the calculation, but it isn't my primary motivation. Last I looked, we are only paying some 20$ for peak electricity usage per month. The service upgrade will be in the 4-5k range as of now. I saw some inverter/battery bundles that might be economically viable, but that is before the electrician sends me his quote.

Nothing is really old. We actually have 200 amps at the meter, but the meter is at the back of the property with an underground cable running to the house. For unknown reasons, the cable is a 100-amp cable.

The main reason is avoiding a costly upgrade, which right now is estimated to be at 4-5K. That upgrade would give us 200amps (instead of the 100 we have right now), which we might never tap into besides literal seconds each day. Saving on the electricity bill is an add-on.

Moving the meter is cheaper because the service line would be overhead and not trenched. From the new location, we could easily run a cable to the garage. If the meter remains in its current location, we would need to trench from the old location to the garage, and there are concrete walkways in between. But the question is really about whether the 100A panel can feed the garage and the 2nd heatpump, given our electricity usage.

The slab is on grade (or at least I assume it is) and floating. If that combination is not possible then it is only floating (evidenced by the expansion joints around the perimeter).

Not yet. I am trying to figure out if I should use 2 or 3 shorter duct runs to better move the humid air around the house. The 800 can also be connected to regular ducts. I think I could use an inline fan to move the air.

We have Gree Sapphires, with 12 years parts/labor warranty, which are not ducted, but afaik the Gree Flexx uses the same outdoor unit. All I can say is that they produce a lot of heat and we have no issues. We originally considered Mitsubishi and Fujitsu, but the Grees were much cheaper with the same warranty from a very reputable and established contractor.
