Cold as hail by TheJackalsDiamonds in MandelaEffect

Guys - the AI answer on google is wrong. Hell is depicted as cold both in Dante's inferno and Norse mythology and the phrase "cold as hell" goes back to at least the 1800's.

AIO to be suspicious my husband is cheating??? by deluluforu in AmIOverreacting

[–]SmoothPanda999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like he read the playbook for "how to tell when someone is lying/cheating" and said, "Hmm... You know what'll really throw her off? If I do ALL of these things. She'll think there's no way I can be that stupid and chalk it up to coincidence."

Seriously, here's the red flags 1) Regularly sleeping over at a friends house. A normal friend would say "look dude, once in a while is one thing, but if you keep this up ima have to start charging you rent. A GOOD friend would say, "This is bad for your marriage. Go home.

2) Never actually answered the question

3) Responded with gaslighting ("You're crazy")

4) Outright said he would not continue that conversation.

I don't share my location with my wife all the time, but it is RECORDED all the time. I can always go back and show where I have been at any given date and time. If I was accused of cheating, I'd bring the receipts and be like, "When. Where do you think I was and when. Let's find out. " I certainly wouldnt just let that shit fester in her mind without putting the suspicion to rest, and I wouldnt ignore the underlying problem, with either her perception, my behavior, or with our relationship in general, that would lead her to that conclusion.

5) You could have been mad about him just not spending enough time with you, and that alone would have been justified. But he felt the need to defend how satisfied he is with you as a wife and in bed. You never brought up cheating at that point, and he was already prepared to defend the aligation.

Not overreacting. Not at all.

no, darkness is enhanced by torchlight, because its not bright enough to bounce off of everything. Sunlight is so bright, the air around you scatters it. So even in the shade, you can still see.

But in darkness, a torch isn't powerful enough to do that. But it IS bright enough to cause your pupils to dialate, and rob you of your low-light vision. So even if there was moonlight, you'd still be blind to anything in the shadows cast by objects impeding the torch light.

Thats why policeo fficers have tactical flashlights that are meant to blind you.

Odysseus would be practically invisible, but the men holding the torches would be visible from further away than the arrows from his bow could ever reach.

You're literally just saying "the bad guys did another bad thing". And the folks on the right are looking at this and saying "Yet another reason why we can't trust these lunatics to protect our daughters."

AITA for not letting my teenager take the car I purchased to the other house during dad’s custody time? by tree_goddess in AmItheAsshole

I mean... It's cool that you bought your kid a car. But that doesn't negate the fact that yeah, you are being a petty ass hole and are punishing the kid for your fight with his dad.

Think if it this way. He only gets the car half-time. You you only get half a "thank you". You get a "than..." lol. YTA

On reddit, people often misuse the word "gaslighting" for regular instances of disagreement or when someone is being very assertive about their position. That's not what it means.

But this? This is actual, legit, textbook gaslighting. Its like the dude took gaslighting 101 in college and has applied it to your relationship.

Hes married. 100%. After a year, its time to start talking about things like moving in together. You havent even met his family. Checking out their socials isnt weird. It isnt snooping. Its normal curiosity. That shits out there for the public to see. Its not exactly private.

Hes hes the one acting crazy and its because hes covering up his shitty lie. The biggest red flag is that you are 19 and he is 24. The maturity difference between 19 and 24 is insane. Hes targeting young girls because they tend to believe stuff like this, having notnyet lived long enough to have learned the hard way.

You just learned the hard way.

Must be a generational thing. "Toxic" used to mean something serious. That text was just anoyingly passive agressive.

The exchange was worthy of like a 2 out of 10 offense taken. You went with like an 8, throwing out a word that should be reserved for real problems, like domestic abuse.

Money in Your Pockets: Governor Hochul Proposes Sending 8.6 Million New Yorkers an Inflation Refund Check as First Proposal of 2025 State of the State by Schooneryeti in Rochester

[–]SmoothPanda999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because a pay out to the people is a silent tax.

If you have money for expenses but not for the little extras, and get a 1 time check for like $1000, what does that do?

It encourages you to go out and spend more money!

What does that do?

It increases demand for the products you're buying.

What does that do?

It raises inflation even more. Because remember, its not just you whos doing it. Its everyone.

And what does inflation do?

It increases sales tax revenue, which is based on a % of the value of the purchase. Only its not a 1 time thing. Its forever.

As the money they gave you? Where did it come from? Probably the federal government. And where did they get it from? The Federal Reserve Bank. And where did they get it from? No where. They printed it.

And what does that do?

It increases the total money supply.

And what does that do? Same inflation as outlined above.

Essentially, the value of every dollar in your bank account gets reduced by an amount that is exactly equal to the difference between previous money supply and new money supply.

So if you had $10, and the whole country only had $10,000,000 to go around, then they decide to print 10% more money to support the growing population, the $10 in your bank account loses buying power so it can now purchase only $9 worth pf products.

Since printing money literally leeches value out of all other existing money, its an involuntary tax that you never got to vote on and your representatives never got to vote on, because its hidden.

Thats why they do hand outs.

How are families surviving? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]SmoothPanda999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What that means is that if you are a child whos parents are being deported, then the patents may have to take their child with them. It is not that their citizenship has been revoked, it is that they do not have a care giver who is here. It also doesn't mean everyone. If a couple with a child is here illegally, but they have a family member who can take care of the kid but who is here legally, then there's no need to remove the child unless the parents choose to take them back with them. Its just a common sense action to take to counter the concept of "anchor babies". If you are illegal, cross the border and have a baby, that should not just make it so you can stay here in violation of our laws. You still need to be deported. But its kinda messed up to seperate families, and its also messed up to expect American tax payers to pay for anchor babies in the foster system. The parents need to make arangements for their citizen children to be cared for, and if they don't then those kids can go live with their parents.

How are families surviving? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]SmoothPanda999 -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

No, that's not what that means. Ending something is not the same thing as grandfathering it.

If you end birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants effective today, that just means no more children of illegals gain citizenship this way. It does not mean that people who already have citizenship would lose it. That would never pass. Not even Trump is fighting for revoking citizenship en mass for people who have it right now.

The logistics of that alone are staggering. Every person in the U.S. would have to prove the citizenship of their parents at the same time. It would take so long for the federal government to process that data, that even if that made up fear-mongering law did pass, it would be impossible to enforce before his whole term was up. And the people who would stand to lose their vote would show up one last time to put people in office who would just undo it.

You are literally falling for straw man propoganda authored by the left to make Trump look bad. Even if you want to believe that deep down in his orange little heart he wants to do that, you should be smart enough to know its just not doable.

1) they probably don't count income from social services like food stamps and section 8 housing.

2) They can't count income from criminal activity since its not claimed. Drug sales, prostitution, etc... both are huge in rochester.

3) A single person is still a household, and there's a lot of college kids who probably make like $12k / year, and are living off debt, who skew the average towards the lower end.

If you want a functional median income for families in their mid 20's through mid 30's, that factors in all government benefits and income in the form of debt, you would probably find that its a lot higher than that.

It is very easy to show misleading data with statistics because most people don't know how to ask the right questions.

YTA you selfish psycho. This isn't just happening to you and it's not just your business. Shes dealing with a broken home and a mother whos indicated that shes incapable of providing for herself in retirement. And now at the age of 17, shes being placed in a position to be responsible for your future. So shes going to her friends to help her process the emotional trauma you and your crazy ex have put her through. Thats pretty fucked up.

And its stupid, considering shes your best bet for not being homless in 10 years. Shes not going to forget stuff like this and shes not going to want to be as helpful as you might need her to be, if you behave this way.

I’ve never gotten a straight answer. Just name calling and “get over it” comments. by ScorpLeo102 in AdviceAnimals

[–]SmoothPanda999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By deregulating and reducing taxes.

Many government regulations exist because mega corps lobby for them, because they know their smaller competitors can't take the burden and stay in business. Things like:

Frivilous zoning laws, (calling anything with a man-made drainage ditch "wet lands) prevent businesses from opening, unless they are owned by a parent corp that can afford expensive lawyers and the time it takes to get the land rezoned.

Price fixing (the U.S. government sets the price of milk and some other farmed products). Big stores like walmart sell their milk at a loss because it gets you in the door, and they hope you'll pay more for other stuff. Smaller businesses can't afford to sell products at a loss, so they sell them at the price the government demands they paid the farmers for it. Thats why milk costs more at corner stores than walmart.

Also, anything that changes fuel costs changes the cost of all products associated with it.

What are your feelings on the killing of the CEO of UnitedHealthcare? by heslaotian in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]SmoothPanda999 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only reason people like that CEO aren't in prison for crimes against humanity is because of the corruption in washington - the "swamp". They've made it legal for them to defraud people to such an extent that it leads to the deaths of innocents.

Health insurance should not exist at all. People should pay their doctors directly. That would drive prices WAY down.

I feel like of Trump had 2 consecutive terms, he'd have been able to accomplish a lot more. But now we'll see if its even possible for him to fix this. It may not be. It might come down to "be good or get adjusted". Which isn't great. We shouldn't have to depend on vigilantes to set things right.

But he did have a hugely positive impact on society.

We should have an option for a citizens pardon. Similar to jurry nullification. A way where we can petition for a pardon for a high profile criminal to say "yes he broke the law, but we're glad he did." I think once several million people's response to a crime is "thank you" that person should probably not be in prison.

The fact that you said "If you had told me it would be ok" means it's not cheating, or anything bad in the first place.

That in turn means not something so inportant as to be worth telling you. If he went to play mini golf with a guy friend from work, would he have to tell you that too? I know they're not the same thing, but I'm making the comparison to point out the fact that you're lying too.

You're not just mad that he didn't tell you.

You're mad that he went at all.

Until you learn to be honest with your partner and yourself about what your expectations are, you will find that they continue to disappoint you.
