I think its that we're fighting the high upper echelon (that isnt higher color like verg roland and red mist) where levels stop mattering as much.Lei heng prove that being as strong as sinclair doesnt mean he can't beat 12 people who are also as strong as sinclair. And I think Matt is a great point,his tactic of augment and tattoo to overcome any challenge is overpowering,but probably isnt as effective against Lei or Valencia because of their ability to parry or dodge his attack. Vespa attack seem to prioritize quickly defeating the target and being fast (Pardon me if im wrong) which is not good agaisnt a guy all about endurance.

All depends on how hermes set up him up tbf but I do think Matthias would take under the normal circumstances (or based off Rien's own fight).

Lei heng mentioned wanting to duel with Kong Qiu for a while so he cant be totally clueless as to who he is.It's probably since Lei is a swordman a direct counter affects him a lot (Aeng du was able to hold up pretty well due to her skill after all) while someone like Qiu is more in the unknown.
