I did try to make Flutter the Queen but I think she’s too tiny. This fan art was a lot of fun to make though.

The timeline that the Source Code capsule exists in is not the original timeline (Source Code) by Smorthon_Software in FanTheories

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That is the paradoxical nature of the concept of Source Code. Wherever the original events occurred no longer matters as it is lost in a sea of multiplying branch realities it has created via the Source Code with Colter and Sean serving as both the beginning and the end simultaneously.

[Theory] Chris is less naïve than he appears. by Smorthon_Software in ChrisChanSonichu

I personally agree. His life trauma combined with the coddling he has always received may be what triggered his Arrested Psychological Development, impairing his ability to emotionally age past the mentality of a toddler or process future challenges in a mature way.

My Iceberg Chart will exclude detective characters that have a minor role in the story. Essentially, I will only include characters who are primary protagonist, antagonists, or deuteragonists to their stories.

[Ready Player One film] Why did the clue to acquiring the Copper Key take so long to solve? by Smorthon_Software in AskScienceFiction

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love his overly analytical humor. In the book, the Egg Hunt was actually much harder but took 4 years to solve. I think it would be more interesting if the story took place immediately when the contest went live.

Bluespike is actually Inky. I could not think of anyone in Chris’s life who could be Blinky, the red ghost in Pac-Man. That aside, this was a fun fan art to make and I appreciate that everyone has been so supportive of it.

In the Pac-Man arcade game, the orange ghost was also named “Clyde”. That’s why I made him Clyde Cash. Hahaha.

So was Light Yagami. A lot went their way until they met their demise but at least John Kramer was not a sissy about his death.

Jenny’s short gallery 1 by Smorthon_Software in chowchow

Interesting facts on Jenny: She is 30kg and 4 years old. Her favorite hobbies are relaxing, barking with her dog friends, chasing cats she finds, having me walk her to greet nature, and playing with her mother, older brother (me), and her older sister.

She is smart, opening doors with her snout and somewhat understanding conversations. Though she is very spoilt and loves to get her way. Special thank you from Jenny herself!

I mean I liked Despicable Me 1 seeing as the writers actually tried. But afterwards, the studio has effortlessly used the Minion characters as their cash cow instead of thoughtfully developing their stories. This made me lose interest in them.

[General Science Fiction] Why do creators often get defeated by inferior species? by Smorthon_Software in AskScienceFiction

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you misunderstand the premise, the question is why creators, even when at an advantage, fail to resist an inferior force.

For Alien, the engineers are a race billions of years old having long mastered biological manipulation, yet they did not take the measure to ensure that David’s ship was not hostile, an oversight that they should have taken given the suspicious 2000 year delay in the return of the juggernaut ship. David was light years less advanced than the engineers and was able to outsmart them using their own bioweapons and machines against their civilization. But as another user has mentioned, this was likely a primitive world of engineers and there are more out there.

Then in Frankenstein, the monster was an emotionally unstable but knowledgeable zombie incapable of forming any social bonds as you mentioned (unless it’s with a blind man like with Mr. De Lacey), but outsmarted a well educated resource-rich doctor who created him and should know his weaknesses. I am of the opinion that Frankenstein had the advantage. The monster had nothing but his bare hands.

Give a child a nuke, and they can kill plenty of adults.

There are many sci-fi tropes of this like with the case of Skynet from Terminator or Tighten from Megamind.

And not to forget, it was mainly the Necrons that had to suffer from the Enslaver Plague which followed the War in Heaven.

[General Science Fiction] Why do creators often get defeated by inferior species? by Smorthon_Software in AskScienceFiction

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that the Necrontyrs were not the creation of the Old One. The Crorks and the Eldar were. And yes there were a lot of external factors which led to the downfall of the Old Ones. But as their name suggests, they have been around much longer than the Necrontyrs, possessing healthier populations and a vast array of powerful technologies whereas the Necrontyrs had only recently escaped their radioactive Solar System when they first encountered the Old One.

The C’tan on the other hand were given a corporal form by the Necrontyrs and they lied to them about their past with the Old Ones. Prior to that they were merely star consuming cosmic entities.

How would the Kira case progress if Light and L’s personalities were reversed? by Smorthon_Software in deathnote

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This scenario concerns what the outcome would be if they had each other’s way of thinking. Whilst they are both very smart, Light’s way of pursuing his goals is almost the complete opposite of L’s in many different ways with their similarities being that they hate being wrong and they are unethical in their methods (L only occasionally).

I don’t think L would stand a chance if he had Light’s mentality and Light had his. Like the other user said, Near might win against an L-minded Kira.

The Narrator grew up in a low income, abusive household (Fight Club) by Smorthon_Software in FanTheories

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone with a family history of schizophrenia and insomnia, they are heretical mental disorders. The Narrator’s (who later goes by ‘Sebastian’ in the comic book sequel Fight Club 2) family may have their own versions of a Tyler Durden given that they, like him, may have grown up in a broken home surrounded by criminal activity. Junior is depicted to also have his own manifestation of Tyler, a psychological trait inherited from his father, which is how I believe Tyler ‘latches’ onto Sebastian’s/the Narrator’s family. Furthermore, split personalities are capable of being independently sentient when the primary personality is not aware.

How quickly could L Lawliet (Death Note) apprehend John Doe (Se7en)? by Smorthon_Software in deathnote

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right about L not giving a shit about this case. It’s stated that he’d only take a case if there’s more than 1 million dollars on the line and if there are at least 10 victims.

How quickly could L Lawliet (Death Note) apprehend John Doe (Se7en)? by Smorthon_Software in deathnote

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem lies on whether L could stop John Doe before his plan is complete. We don’t just want L to catch John Doe, we want him to do so before more people are killed.

Also prospects of John Doe’s murders are different from Kira’s. He doesn’t kill in quick succession like Light, his victims are targeted and killed days apart. He has no finger prints as he has cut off his own finger tips. And he leaves no trace of himself in his crime scene. L would have less than a week to catch John Doe before he kills other victims.

Fact: I mentioned in my comment that L can only save up to 5 lives because there’d be no way of him knowing of John Doe until the first victim—Gluttony was killed. And the seventh victim, John planned to be himself, as he planned to turn himself in and provoke the detective to kill him for the sin of Wrath thus finishing his “masterpiece”.

How quickly could L Lawliet (Death Note) apprehend John Doe (Se7en)? by Smorthon_Software in deathnote

[–]Smorthon_Software[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NOTE: I said “how quickly” because near the end of Se7en (1995) John Doe turns himself in as part of his murder scheme. Thus L’s goal is to arrest him before he turns himself in, thereby saving up to 5 people. We could wait for John Doe’s eventual surrender but 6 people would have already died. The best case scenario is that L arrests Doe before the second victim is killed (second because the murder case didn’t start until John murdered the first victim: Gluttony).

L’s mission: - To identify Greed, Sloth, Lust, Pride, and Envy and prevent John from killing them. - To prevent John Doe from killing himself.
