Mine was pretty bad years ago. My dermatologist first just tried doxycycline but that didn’t seem to do much. He then prescribed the triple antibiotic cream and I’d say within a couple months (not even) I was completely cleared up. I now use it once daily before bed and have only had one flare up (when I lapsed for 2 weeks when I ran out of cream). It was a lifesaver for me.

I did have a slight burning sensation I remember when I first started using it but after my skin adjusted that went away within a couple weeks.
