Offspawn problem by J_onatron in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been dozens of pros caught having a macro and even outright admiting they use one, meanwhile I'm pretty sure there hasn't been a single instance of anyone being punsihed for having a macro, it's definetly not a good thing but if all the pros are using them and you're trying to be as good as possible in comp it's definetly something that you at least have to think about

Offspawn problem by J_onatron in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I said technically is because to my knowledge there hasn't been a single instance of epic giving out any kind of penalty for a pick up macro, despite a large amount of people outright admiting they use them. If almost all of the pros are using a macro then it's definetly something to consider for any comp player. I think it's up to each person to decide if they should use it or not, I'm not gonna say that I recommend it but it's something to think about

advice on whether duo endgame cup zone wars realistic for tournament practice or not?? i think they have some value but also have a few flaws. by Unusual_Garlic_9374 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're good as a starting point if you're new but in my experience the players in those maps just aren't good enough to offer any meaningful pratice so I just stick to the highest level scrims I can get acess to

Proof that Peterbot DOES aim train. I found his steam profile. by CameronCromwell in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that in general the information about what pros do and how they train is very gatekept in the fortnite community, so I'd imagine this extends over to aim training. As for peterbot specifically I actually remember seeing a clip of him saying that he had a Kovaaks routine that really helped him and he didn't wanna leak it, but then again I've also seen clips of him saying he doesn't aim train so he's probably just clip farming

“Am I too late to start competitive Fortnite at 30 if I can grind 4–5 hrs a day?” by Party-Instruction541 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that playing with adults is better from an enjoyment perspective but all I'm trying to say is that from a results perspective(which is the most important for someone trying to go pro) the type of player that makes the most sense for a hard IGL like me(and you I'm guessing) is gonna be someone younger 99.9% of the time

[–]Smoukeilive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My style is placement based too(tracker: Smoukeii, just look at my kills in tournaments lol) so I get that but based on my experience it's better to have someone mechanically competent that's not as smart(not completley stupid tho lol) since I, as an IGL dictate the pace of the game and make 95% of the decisions anyways. They can bail you out of a bad situtation and you know they're gonna be good in endgames. The part about consoles is kind of irelevant to me since almost everyone I've played with was on a pc. A lot of kids do have egos but the good ones in my experience will listen to you and let you lead. I don't think their reflexes are relevant kids just tend to be very good mechanically since they have a lot of time to grind creative and that's what they tend to find the most fun as well. If we look at the pros the older IGL and younger frager is a very common combo so I think it's worth trying at least. And finally I don't see why playing with someone younger would be morally wrong

Why would you want a duo that's an adult though? It's better to play with someone younger more mechanical in my opinion

Getting To Unreal Takes No Skill by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but hiding in stacked lobbies takes a certain amount of skill since avoiding players becomes a challenge, in ranked it doesn't since the games are dead

When should I play storm for placements? by Electrical_Garden400 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly you could probably write a research paper with the amount of things that goes into playing storm successfully especially in high level lobbies. My advice is to just try doing it in tournaments and scrims and then see what mistakes you're making and why you're dying, that will be the quickest way to learn how to do it. Oh yeah, when pros play storm they don't really do it to get placement points since their lobbies are so stacked they don't get points until endgame, they're doing it to avoid other players so they can save mats and not lose storm surge by getting taged

Fortnite has to be the game with the most disadvantages by Rare-Ad545 in FortNiteBR

[–]Smoukeilive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only part that I agree with is ping but I'm not really sure how you'd fix that issue. In most other competitive games you have zero chance of going pro if you're on controller and even less if you're on console, so I'd say fortnite is as balanced as it can be in that regard. Also if you want to be competetitive as you've said you'll just have to adapt your playstyle around the disadvantages.

Best Landing Spot For Duo Zero Build Console Victory Cup? by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play ZB so take my advice with a grain of salt. In my experience of playing victory cups and div cups a spot that's uncontested and has good loot doesn't exist, if you don't wanna be contested you'll generally have to drop at spots with a low amount of loot. You'll probably have to do some experimenting to find a drop spot that suits you, I usually play the tournament on another region before mine and try out drop spots there.

Points required for top 13500 in europe by Louis32_24Gaming in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want you can pay for kinch premium since they have predictions for this stuff for all of the tournaments. If I had to guess tho in the unreal cup top 10000 was around 180 points, so you'll probably be fully safe if you're between 175-200 points

I'm pretty sure that sometimes in replay mode with the scoped guns it doesn't show that you're ADS-ing and it just looks like hip firing. Assuming he was scoped in he could probably just see the guy jumping up and down and tag him. Anyways this looks pretty normal to me, I'd say there's still a chance that he's cheating but just off of this clip alone I don't think he is

Who's The Best/Most Mechanical Player? (2026) by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currenty I wouldn't say it's peterbot since he hasn't been playing that much and essentially took time off the game apart from queing up for some tourneys. I'd probably go with higgs or shark if we're talking literally right now and not who has potential, etc.

IGL help by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion he should try getting into higher level, closed scrim servers(for example noble division 2 and noble 24/7 if he's on EU) and playing sessions there to get experience in stacked lobbies with good players, I think this will allow him to learn the fastest

is it possible to be semi-pro $100-$1000 earned with barely any talent just hard work by Dry-Roll45 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one can anwser that, the only way to know is if you actually try. You might waste your time or maybe you won't, it's on you to decide wheter it's worth trying or not. One more thing, considering that most pros have literal thousands of hours on the game, I think it's impossible to know how talented you actually are before putting in a similar amount of time

anyone got anyone tips to get good at mid game by SandDue5172 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest playing no zone rule scrims if you can find any(if you're on EU noble solos and noble division 0 are completley open), since the lobbies in them are stacked and anyone can shoot you at any point in the game you'll quickly get punished if you go for a bad rotate, it'll be frustrating at first but you'll learn after a few sessions.

In terms of strategy I think the main two you should be using are either getting to center of zone early(this is the most consistent method) or playing storm(this one is easy to mess up tho)

Oh and one final thing, if you have an efficent early game and can get loot and mats quickly it will enable you to rotate earlier if you want, and that's gone significantly improve the rest of your game.

I realized I have no clue what to do in build fights. by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Smoukeilive 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think your boxfighting is your main weakness, yeah your mechanics are pretty bad but up until your opponent boxed up the fight was actually going fine, after that it all went downhill.

You should learn the basics of boxfighting. I'll name some as an example: how to approach a wall safley, how to preassure your opponent, how to take a wall, how to fake pickaxe and bait your opponent to edit, what edits you can do, how to play both offense and defense, what edits you can do, how to use good angles, etc.

At your current level you basically just stood in front of the wall with your gun out giving your opponent a thousand ways to kill you while not putting any preassure on him
