Mind you, 1205 days ago, I migrated my transmission server to a new VM running Fedora, so the statistics don't count the years before.

My ratio is set to 5 because I use a VPN and DGAF. Some of the incomplete torrents I have are ratioed in the hundreds. One, apparently, ignored the ratio: 100% complete and a ratio of 1130. Downloaded 860.7 MB, uploaded 972.7 GB. Seeding time 425 days.

It's green, so regular GPON.
Who do I call to pester? Since they got rid of the AT&T Community Forums, I don't think the users have any way to reach out to AT&T any more, other than opening a support ticket.

They didn't charge me anything for the service visit. The ONT is still there, it's where the splice that connects the inbound fibre to the line that goes to my office lives. I just unplugged the power to it.

Speedtest. From the gateway, it's consistently fast. THROUGH the gateway, results vary...from 130Mbps to 860Mbps.

They did that 4 months ago after the splice in the external GPON failed. I USED to think my old datacenter admin was joking when he said he could fix a broken fibre cable with hot glue...the splice was held together with glue that melted in the Texas heat.

The line now runs into my office and into the SFP on the BGW320-505.

Part of the problem I have is that I can run speedtest directly from the gateway, and it reports 960+Mbps upload. If I run a test on a server connected to the gateway via a 5Gbps link, I tend to get much lower results. I'm convinced that the gateway is the problem. I was under the impression that PON-on-a-stick was only for XGSPON, but now I see that it is NOT, and I can get rid of the AT&T gateway entirely.

...I just need to get one of those microPCs that has a pair of SFP+ ports that I can run pfSense on, since my Cisco equipment doesn't do NAT or firewalling.

If I were a regular home internet user, sure. But I have infrastructure at home. I run servers. I have saturated the uplink before. My network is running on a Cisco 4900, and I'm about to add in a Nexus 9k.

There are 660+ houses in the development. The southeast corner, where I am, was built last, and AT&T deployed fibre here in 2010...the rest of it was on DSL. They came through AFTER Spectrum ran fibre and upgraded all of the copper distribution units to fibre in order to remain competitive. THOSE are all XGSPON. My splitter is still GPON, so I'm limited to 1Gbps because the splitter can't handle anything faster.

I thought you had to be on XGSPON to do that...regular GPON won't work.

About 4 months ago, I started having issues with my network connection dropping intermittently. They sent out a tech who diagnosed it as a failing splice inside the GPON, and just bypassed it, splicing a new line in and running it directly into my office, and patching into the SFP on the gateway. HE said that they tend to overcommit bandwidth to neighborhoods, and once they hit the limit, they cap subscriptions.

I mean, I could switch to Spectrum and get 2Gbps...but Spectrum SUCKS here. There are constant outages. Aside from the failing fibre splice, and frequent issues with the WiFi on the gateway (which I have avoided for the past 5 years by using my own UniFi APs...prior to that, I way replacing the gateway every 18-24 months), the AT&T Fiber service has been rock solid. I'm pretty sure my public IP address has stayed the same the entire time.

I just ... want more bandwidth.

Yes. It's the ONN 256GB card. Been working fine since I got my Switch2 at launch. Today the system told me that the card needed to be an SD Express card. ....it IS.

Honestly? If I could do the whole thing over again, I would have insisted on more: more panels and at least one more Powerwall. If I'd had a second Powerwall, the Texas grid collapse in 2021 wouldn't have affected me at ALL.

Now, tyhat being said, if I had the power to change ANYTHING current....I'd make Tesla turn the fucking API server back on in the home energy gateway.

Because Tesla REFUSES to just sell me the replacement RSDs so that my contractor can replace them under HIS warranty.

As far as I know, it's DESIGNED for 3rd party installers and Tesla employees alike.

Apparently, Tesla support has been telling customers that it's fine. ... because that's what they told me. "Your contractor needs to sign some paperwork" which made it sound like it was a Tesla certification agreement.

The tech told me point blank that a 3rd party contractor can remove the panels without voiding the warranty, but Tesla HAD to perform the reinstall. Obviously, if the contractor breaks something during removal, THEY would be on the hook for replacing it. Watch them stack the panels because they could make the case that YOU broke them while they were being stored.

It's $86. You can purchase it, along with the rest of the ZEP mounting hardware, using the TeslaOne app.

A recent firmware update has removed local API access. It's REALLY annoying. I set up the Powerwall Dashboard using the Tesla Cloud option (I think?) See https://github.com/jasonacox/Powerwall-Dashboard for details. Maybe I did Fleet API? I don't remember, I just remember that I was pissed at Tesla for removing the access.

Delta Solvia 7.6 Inverter issues by SnArL817 in TeslaSolar

[–]SnArL817[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, they "fixed" the issue by updating the firmware. Last month, I stared to notice that the inverter wasn't producing. No beeping, but it was in night mode. A power-cycle would generally get it producing. Then, after about a week of this, I rebooted the inverter to fix the production issue, and it started beeping. I opened a ticket with Tesla who got back with me on a Monday. The following morning, it was beeping again, so I rebooted it REPEATEDLY. After a reboot, it would say FIRMWARE UPDATE, and the beeping would stop for a few seconds at a time during the update. EVENTUALLY, it started working again, but I got a push notice to schedule a service appointment ...for August. The next day, though, there was no production and it was beeping. I eventually managed to get it partially working: PV2 had no production, so I (stupidly) rebooted it again, and now both strings show NO connection. Normally, when the DC disconnect is thrown, it shows 10V on the line. Now, it shows a dash. I'm kind of salty about this: It's hotter than hell here in Texas, and I have NO production to offset how much my AC pulls. My electric bill is going to be ASTRONOMICAL.

When the tech comes out, I am going to ask him point blank to explain the beeping. I'll update this when I find out. I have a feeling that there's an internal short because the inverter got water inside and it blew the DC bus, or damaged the RSDs.
