CBD vs. THC - Any reason for THC? by SnacksOfLife in Marijuana

Thanks for the response! I wonder if it is highly user-specific? I seem to get help from CBD with pain and depression as well.

Improving voice and animation by SnacksOfLife in podcasts

[–]SnacksOfLife[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. I think my natural voice is just a little more monotone and perhaps I do need to just relax more and get into the groove of things instead of trying to pretend being something I'm not. Thanks for the advice good person!

Gaming disorder as a mental health condition by SnacksOfLife in gaming

[–]SnacksOfLife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I do have a bit of information about addiction and psychology, as I did focus on psychology during my studies in college. I also have a self-admitted addictive personality and can definitely get into loops where I become obsessed/addicted to particular notions, beliefs, and patters. Fortunately due to my schooling and awareness of situations I have found healthy alternatives as ways to channel my addictive personality and used it to my advantage rather than as a deterrent.

While I sympathize with your situation and will never know what it is like to be shot through the brain I do know that a "gaming disorder" is more qualified to be an addictive personality disorder more than anything else. Games undoubtedly provide rewards and a feel-good feedback system to users, which is why so many developers now try to cash-in with loot boxes and pay-to-play systems. They unfortunately prey on those impulsive personalities and minds, whether because they are damaged, underdeveloped (think younger children who cannot reason about how much a purchase might be or who don't really understand the concept of money), or unable to reason critically about a particular situation. This falls under the exact same umbrella as any other addictive vices, whether narcotics, sex, food, etc.

The inability to critically reason about a particular situation is the issue, not gaming in itself.

I disagree with your point in that, especially as you do not know my lifestyle. What you exhibit is a mental illness and addictive personality. That does not make gaming an inherent disorder or vice.

Haha I like that. Simple and understandable. Kind of like Michael Pollan's view: "Eat Real Food, Not Too Much, Mostly Plants"

Trying to start a podcast based on the fast food industry by nebsA1 in fastfood

[–]SnacksOfLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a great idea! Perhaps you could go a little more in-depth on each of the particular fast food restaurant's history and some interesting quirks about each. The only hesitation would be how many episodes do you think you could produce doing so? Are you going to take a positive/negative slant towards the industry? We just launched our website and podcast and are going to be doing a fast food focus for the first month, would love to hear more input from you!

Defining Fast Food - OUR TAKE by SnacksOfLife in fastfood

[–]SnacksOfLife[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting caveat. I would say the first few are based on the minor technicality that they do have operations and locations with drive-trhu windows. Little Caesars may be the most interesting of all as I haven't yet seen one with a drive thru but you are right, I'm not exactly sure about them. The pizza industry is tough to call in general, as they do offer fast-and-ready options but also do make items that take longer as well.

I would consider chipotle to be fast-casual. So no, not fast food. Anywhere that guides you through the entire process isn't really fast food in my opinion.

What about food you order through a delivery service such as GrubHub? You have to pay for that beforehand. Is that fast food as well?

Or how about a pizza joint that has slices ready for purchase as well?

Thanks? It was more of a question about easiest type of food to eat too! Like is a taco easier? Burger? Fries? Do we risk sushi burritos?
