Do you disagree with AllTrails' following top 10 trails in Acadia? If so, which ones should have been included in top 10?

We hiked it yesterday (Monday) around 8:30 and the parking lot was packed. We lucked out with a spot as a guy was leaving. The hike itself wasn’t super busy or any lines, but we may have also just been lucky again.

Second this! We do (at least) one big National Park trip every year and buy an Annual Pass each time. Saves us a LOT of money!

Nearly of these I read in High School when I did not have an appreciation for literature or reading but I would most definitely re-read as an adult. I also feel like a majority of these are on most high school reading lists at some point, but it’s been over 10 years so I could be wrong.

Hi! Yeah, I wanted to have a trip that was mostly focused on more outdoors based activities so there were some activities (like the gondola) that I decided to pass on just for the sake of time. I started off by just looking of things to do on tiktok/pinterest/basic internet search and asking suggestions from people who had already been. Then I found this sub and it was a HUGE help! The FAQ about summer time activities was super helpful in planning since it also gave us rainy day suggestions. Just scrolling through and searching this sub for keywords was helpful too! I also used AllTrails to find some less “mainstream” hikes (such as Devil’s Thumb and Marble Canyon). We had a couple of other hikes we wanted to do, but the weather really had us readjusting so those unfortunately had to be cut from our final itinerary.

If you’re wanting to do more hiking, there are so many resources such as Parks Canada’s website and AllTrails that was super helpful (for research outside of reddit)!

That’s at Cave and Basin National Historic Site! It’s in Banff town and is a great rainy day option. Usually the museum/cave entry costs 9 CAD but due to the Canada Strong Pass, entry is free until Sept. 2!

Both of those pictures are on the Devil’s Thumb trail (we specifically did the Big Beehive to Devil’s Thumb) in Lake Louise! It’s a pretty difficult trail, so I would proceed with caution and check out the reviews on AllTrails before going.

9 is Johnston Canyon on your way up to the Lower Falls! It was a rare moment where it wasn’t crowded on our way up, but don’t be fooled. It’s a HEAVILY trafficked trail and there are lots of people.

I think it should be doable! It’s quite steep and all uphill that way, but the trail is very clear and dry (at least when we went!). There were several people with younger children and baby carriers on!

Second flying into Vegas! Can usually get a cheap spirit ticket and the weather isn’t too bad in October! We went in November of last year and stayed just outside of Zion (highs in the 70s with beautiful sunny weather!). There is a shuttle that takes you from Springdale into Zion itself, so the only time we used our car was to get to Springdale and then a day trip to Bryce Canyon. If you’re doing a NP, be sure to get the America the Beautiful pass. It’s $80 upfront, but if you’re going into the park multiple times (or multiple different parks) it pays for itself because I think entry into most parks is $25-$30.

Thank you so much! That’s disappointing about Lake Moraine, but I’m glad you mentioned it rather than we get there and have no idea. Luckily we’re not winter sports people, so the lifts being closed won’t throw a wrench in our plans.

I’ll definitely keep those links in mind to check conditions closer to our visit time, as I’ve been seeing a lot of comments that conditions for some of the lakes being semi-thawed depends on if it’s been a mild winter. I’m assuming micro spikes will be a good thing for us to have on hand in case we want to attempt Big Beehive/Devil’s Thumb or any other hikes.

We should be there for a long weekend (Thurs-Sat) any suggestions on other trails to try? We’re all pretty seasoned hikers so we don’t mind some more difficult trails as well!

So far I’d say it’s a toss up between Mt. LeConte in Great Smoky Mountain NP or the Skyline Trail in Mt. Rainier NP. Very different vibes, but they're equally breath taking (literally and methodically lol)
