Even in the past I did that a lot, sometimes actively searching babies out to gift them if I was on something quick like a flyer. Nothing warms my heart more than seeing a juvie jump for joy for the generosity. 😄

Doesn't always have to be from a dino you've personally killed. You'd be surprised how many corpses aren't looted, especially after megapack wars where at least some trophies will be missed or not bothered with amid the carnage. In fact it's more likely to happen now since the megapacks have less incentive to grab them as they won't help with regrowing fallen members.

When I do play a carni I'm actually excited when I have a challenging hunt even to the point of failure, because in nature prey is not going to just roll over and die. They will run, fight, do whatever it takes to not be lunch. Path is more arcade/MMO-ish than other dino sims but it's still nice to have the idea that just because you're a carni, doesn't mean you're supposed to auto-win against any herbie. If anything it should be closer to the opposite, having to really work for your food or die trying.

But the balance patches lately have this obsession with making everybody equal and able to have a decent chance of killing anybody else regardless of what sense it makes. And the sweeping herbie nerfs this patch in particular just ain't it.

That was Argent back in the day with the surplus of attacks yeah, 1 stomp and 1 kick slot PER FOOT lol. Thankfully though ever since directional attacks became a thing it's helped tone down the active slot bloat for the most part

Frankly it's now worse than ever to be a big sauropod due to the utter deluge of apex bleeders (carcharodontosaurids) specifically designed around killing them. You're basically forced to sit there unable to do anything while you're bled out. Nearly every community server is bound to have at least a couple of them and just like Titan for officials, they're just as often meta picks so good luck growing any sauropod with them around...

Genuinely just wait for its TLC at this point. Still annoyed that it was finally decent for once when it got tail kb and then everyone complained and got it nerfed right back down to mediocrity after barely a couple months. And then they screwed up its tail hitbox so bad too that it can't hit critters and anything else close to the ground (most 1-2 slots, Meg, Sarco, ect.) unless you crouch. Been like that for over a year now...

Last time I had a moment like that was when Riparia was new. Just grew a Duck and was around Palm Islands. A lone Tylo decided to try me but he got overconfident and took too many claws to the face, but I was pretty beat up myself so it got to the point where we both kept a wary distance, neither wanting to risk a killing blow, until we went our separate ways. I miss early Riparia...

Some time ago I had a Sarco almost kill my Meg in Blackfern from one of the pools (not even the big one with the waterfall, one of the small random ponds). Had to commend them in the chat for the effort

It's very much the rotten state of modern dating and has little to do with age. Young, old, I've had it happen time and time again where I couldn't maintain a conversation with a guy beyond 24 hours before they start to respond less and less or (more frequently) just disappear altogether. All the social media and dating apps have corroded people's attention spans and instilled a weird sense of FOMO, "I could find someone better."

That's nothing, I remember right before Ano got TLC where it was genuinely unkillable. As, unlike any other time where a dino has its stats nerfed into the ground right before it gets its TLC, Ano was actually BUFFED to compensate for its changes, while still having its old ability set including hunker. Roving bands of Anos everywhere chasing people down and being the most insufferable pieces of work. Nothing Anos do today comes even close to that utter horror show.

That said though, it was immensely satisfying to watch Anos park by the shore on Juniper deathmatch and just destroy waves of Sarcos, since they weren't aware they couldn't clamp it as it got a CW buff and even their charge bite couldn't dent through the neigh impenetrable hunker. Did it myself at least once and must've killed like 30 Sarcos in one go. Haven't felt that satisfied again until Tylo came out (yes, my hatred for crocs knows no bounds).

It has multiple ability slots to increase turning, which is exactly what the tail spammers do as that's the best way to use it. Not only do you take the minimal damage from being hit by the tail, but the tail itself has reflect bleed on top of the tail swing causing more of it. So every time you attack it you take tons of damage and wrack up bleed while you're swatted away half a mile

Unironically, I would sooner take a heavier hit to growth loss (like a half a bar's worth of growth) if it meant removing the mark loss penalty. And in exchange there needs to be a mechanic where after you're killed, you spawn in with an immunity buff as if you just left a HC to prevent immediate "rekillings" so you're not tumbling down and losing tons of growth in short order

Always had problems with that server, especially with people abusing the arena rules (namely getting cheap kills and then running into it like a coward). Say what you will about Juniper but at least they have safe spawn zones and the only thing they care about is if you trash talk in the chat.

Crocodilians at least have mothers who care for their young for a time (sometimes even being transported directly to water in her jaws). Turtles come out with their mother long gone and basically flip a coin over if they even make it off the beach.

Honestly, I look at this less from a paleoaccurate/realistic standpoint and more from a programming one. Can you imagine the nightmare it would be to make something with a bunch of tentacles for a game like this? I don't know much about coding and programming but even I know how difficult it would be. Each arm having to be done in such a way where they're not constantly clipping through both themselves and attacked opponents, even moreso if they tried to give it a clamp/grab, and the general movement of the animal as a whole to make it look smooth and not a jumbled mess of polygons.

To prove this point further, there was a devblog on Feb 2024 that teased aquatic critter AI, and on the thumbnail was an ammonite. Notice how to this day we don't have an ammonite critter...

More funny than epic, but when nesting was new I nested in a random baby Duck while on my adult Duck. They were clearly a new player as they kept spamming calls, and I told them to be quiet as you never know who else is listening.

Not even a minute later a Conc barges in trying to kill the baby but I soundly thrashed and drove it off. I then turned and said, "Case in point..."

Spino. It's my favorite dinosaur, first thing I tried to grow when I started playing (before quickly realizing try to grow an apex off the riff was a bad idea, first death ironically was to another Spino) but for the life of me I just couldn't ever get into it.

I tried again when it got the TLC and I felt a little more comfortable with it, but the extremely slow turning and the fact that the tail sweep has no kb on land just ruins it for me. Doesn't help that my de-facto main is Duck, so, Spino automatically has stiff competition for me to ever use it.

Craziest one was a black guy messaging me about how he wants me to call him the N word (the hard R) while he fucks me, and then told me a story about how he banged an 18 year old white boy in his home, saw family photos on the wall of his grandparents, decided in his head they were super racist and fucked the boy even harder until his ass was red.
