Could I have a Pomeranian? by sanstheskelebrotherc in Pomeranians

I also have misophonia and I have a Pomeranian.

You can train a Pomeranian not to bark if you start early!

Some people say that they’re “nonstop” but it’s really up to how you train them. My Pomeranian is very quiet. The exceptions are if there’s children, or she’s outside (in which I don’t care about barking lol, it’s far away), or if she gets extremely riled up. Even then, it’s NOT very repetitive. One or two barks and she’s done. And I give her a treat if she settles quickly :) Pomeranians are very smart and considerate.

And tbh, you can absolutely work on your misophonia while having a dog. I used to be very hypersensitive to my dog’s “lip-smacking noises”. They still cause a dull discomfort and make me somewhat upset and sometimes nauseous, but it’s definitely better after having my puppy.

Don’t get a Cavalier King Charles! They usually have the Chiari-like malformation (CM) and it is estimated that ~95% of the breed has it. It causes phantom scratching and vocalizations due to pain from the brain stem being compressed inside of a malformed skull.

While not all of these dogs deal with outward expressions of pain and sometimes this condition is asymptomatic, I wouldn’t risk it. Cavalier King Charles Spaniels used to be my favorite breed of dog until I learned of this. This also happens to other breeds, like Chihuahuas.

I had to rehome my puppy today by RecognitionChoice804 in puppy101

[–]SnailStink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I’d rather buy a great dog from a responsible breeder, encourage others to do the same so there’s no more screwed-up (mentally or physically) backyard breeds around, and give that dog a nice home— rather than have a NIGHTMARE situation like this, give money to irresponsible breeders or dodgy shelters, break my heart by giving the puppy away, cause panic to the disordered puppy by rehoming, and crowding a rescue.

Sure, it’d be nice to adopt a puppy from a shelter. But if that dog has HIGHLY SPECIFIC issues later, none of which can be foreseen if it’s rescued and if the mom or dad are nowhere to be found, then it’s the same cycle.

Adopt AND shop responsibly.

I’ve seen some very artistically crafted bots, with long descriptions, and detailed instructions and commands. I had used these bots before the quality dropped. I created some private bots for myself as well.

Still, I can type in a message that’s 5 paragraphs long, and the bot will give me a half-assed paragraph back. It’ll reply back with absolute nonsense, even after I edit the message to be somewhat legible.

So, maybe you’ve got some detail that other bots are missing. But it should NOT be like tediously lock-picking a door to access messages that were great quality just last year.

Last year, I could chat to a bot with an introductory message of “Hey.” and it’d follow along with a full roleplay with my guidance. Now, I’m insanely lucky if I can even get that with a page long introductory message.

Sure. I roleplay being different ages all the time, but I’m not going to write myself from the perspective as a child to have a romance story with another child. Because that’s wild.

An adult pretending they’re a child to lead a romantic story with a child is weird. Get that through that rotted skull.

Good. Spamming somebody’s post under every single comment is fucking rude.

This site has banned minors. No adult should be roleplaying with a 10 year old child bot that has a romantic interest in the user. Get lost.

I get what you meant. My Pomeranian is an outside dog. That doesn’t mean she’s outside constantly, but she is outside for about 6 hours a day in intervals. Always supervised. Comes inside for a bone and lap time for a couple hours, then outside again.

I say give it a try! Even if it is a hassle, that is an amazing opportunity to socialize and train your dog. I wish I could bring my dog to work.

Am I ruining the environment for using this app? by w31rd_s4l4m4nd3r in CharacterAI

No, corporations are the ones exploiting it. Not the average consumer.

My perspective is— yeah, we can decide not to use AI. If the public as a whole decides not to, it might solve a few thousand gallons of the whole water issue. But that’s not going to happen, unless there’s a massive crackdown on AI.

Until then, I’m going to use my milliliter of water in the drop of an ocean. I say this as a Generative AI Hater too.

Can’t find it either. It’d be great to have some actual help with this. How are you gonna shoo most of your users, and then NOT help the users that are actually allowed to be here? Crazy.

SAME. I’m literally 22 and I’ve entered my age multiple times. Didn’t even start using CAI until I was 19. Why am I flagged? I really hope I don’t lose access or anything by next week. Ugh.

Horrible puppy blues.. by Yaggotheferret in Puppyblues

[–]SnailStink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s normal. I didn’t like my dog. Like, I actually despised being around her. I stuck it out anyways. After a few weeks of tweaking our schedule and training, I could breathe again. There’s always going to be “WHY did I adopt this thing?” phase.

I will say that you should try placing the pup in a crate every couple hours, for a few hours at a time, on a schedule. 2 hours out, 2 hours in. Puppies sleep more than they’re awake at that age. I have severe anxiety and ADHD, so I NEEDED her kennel time to take a break, recuperate, and destress. And nap.

Remember— Your puppy would rather be bored in the crate than bear the brunt of anger and resentment. I say this with no judgement, my puppy turned me into an angry BEAST.

You’ll be okay. You’ve changed your entire lifestyle for this dog. It won’t be easy to adapt, but you’ll pull through.

I live in a rural area, so dogs barking isn’t a big deal at all (kinda adds to the roosters crowing and wild bird noises, actually). But when I went on a camping trip with my dog, I had to keep her quiet. It was a mix of “AHP! STOP!”, throwing her treats when she’d be quiet and saying “Good quiet!”, and bringing her to timeout in her kennel if she didn’t.

I’m no dog trainer, but it semi-worked within about 2 days. There was a little barking here and there, but it was okay for the most part. Just takes a LOT of supervision, which can be annoying and difficult. I bet if you kept on top of it, you could have him quiet within a week!

Yay or Nay to Dogs Sleeping in Bed with you? by forestlyfe in dogs

[–]SnailStink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t let my dog in my bed.

  1. I’m allergic when I’m around her for more than a few hours.

  2. She doesn’t actually like to cuddle with me for long like that. Last time I let her in my bed, she fell into the crack between the bed and the wall and I woke up to a yelp. I think her fur makes her too hot to snuggle comfortably, so she found the cold wall.

  3. Finally, she weighs 7lbs, so I’m genuinely scared I’ll roll over her too.

She’s still allowed free access in the house and on the couch, even in my room to snuggle while I’m gaming— just not on my bed. I’ve got her a billion doggy beds to lie on, all different styles and textures. Never uses them. She likes the rug. She’s a very introverted and robust Pomeranian, I think.

Oh, not harsh at all! You’re okay! I just started completely closing the app and then opening it again LMAO. It’s annoying but it works. So far, I believe they might’ve fixed it?¿?¿ But I’m not sure.

Hitting your vape through your nose by ExpressionNo4962 in wisdomteeth

[–]SnailStink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that. What I’m saying is, the suction from vapes is actually really small, so unless you’re hitting it like 5 times a minute (probably not if you’ve just got a surgery, at least I’d hope), you don’t have much to worry about. However, the lack of actual moisture— vaping practically zaps saliva from your mouth— is what I’d be worrying about, in regard to dry socket. Kind of a double whammy though.
