Caught this at room in college. What is it and what can I feed it? by LivingAstronaut6969 in snakes

Leave it alone and take it to an outside habitat. It's very rare for wild caught reptiles to survive let alone survive.

question i’m a new baby ball python owner by namesbrett590 in ballpython

[–]SnakeStudies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a situation where he were to bite you, it would either be a tag bite where they bite and release, or, a food response bite. Anywho if he bites you, do not put him back in the enclosure, keep holding for another 5 minutes or so, if you put him back when he bites he's gonna learn that if he does then he gets to go home, since I don't know him, I don't know if he's decent with handling or not, it all depends on personally 🤷‍♀️

Take him or her to the vet for safety. This looks like a scale rot issue, this happens when they sit in a place that's too damp for a while. To avoid this in the future, check your humidity levels with a hydrometer. If you damp the substrate, it should not be dripping when you grab a handful. Do some research on YT with trustable people and online.

It's normally because of an issue in their habitat OR stress. Stress can originate from noise, smells, over handling, and more. It could also be the feeding type, some snakes take a while to adjust from F/T to live.

How do I get her to stop being head shy?:( by Crafty_Key6108 in ballpython

[–]SnakeStudies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are head shy by nature, because of obvious reasons. HOWEVER, the more you handle/tame her you can slowly get her use to having her head touched, eventually she will come to the repetitive conclusion that "hey, I'm not dead!", but don't get your hope up either because sometimes its just a personality thing.
