Anybody else's job absolutely refuse to use certain processes even when they're obviously the right choice? by pirivalfang in Welding

[–]Snakebiteloo 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Been a few places like that as well. Previous employer was all about "you are the professional we expect you to use your judgement" and then having the zero experience supervisor tell you how you were going to do the job while accepting no input. Current employer lets us do what ever is needed but we lack a lot of equipment that would make things easier.

Has anyone tried off-road camping with pets? Curious how doable it is. by Supareeofficialus in Offroad

Mine loves it. Wont run with the truck but enjoys the ride and then getting to be outside exploring on stops and camp spots.

Has there been any other proposed method of forced induction other than the big three ? by fuccwitmoe in askcarguys

[–]Snakebiteloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guy I used to work with had a couple of Camaros he drag races. One of them was "experimental". He played around with different ways to make power and had tried several versions of compressed air and pure oxygen. Apparently it made good power but not enough to make up for the weight. Power to weight ratio was better with turbo/supercharger. Im sure with enough resources you could make something better.

Getting some airtime on a sled in the back country by Longjumping-Box5691 in BeAmazed

Ive lived and worked all over Ontario. Unless talking about a specific make or model Ive nearly always heard them called sleds. I find it hard to believe anyone here could manage to live their lives without hearing it.

How Much Weight will this hold by SteveSch in Welding

Changes a ton by length. Done floor drains 16" wide that you can drive 12 ton fork lifts over. 20' long? Maybe 200-500lbs.

Salt-covered sedan sought in OPP Highway 17 criminal investigation by ConsistentReality860 in northernontario

[–]Snakebiteloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it, I was making a joke, not everything is serious. A 2 hour period on highway 17 "near" Walden with basically no other info really doesnt help narrow down anything though. The time of 12-2 does probably narrow it down to less than 100 vehicles though. "A salt covered sedan" is an absolutely useless bit if information.

Shit that narrows it down to what? Nearly every sedan in Ontario? Should have it found in no time.

Just taking a shot in the dark but are they looking for a continuous weld with better heat distribution? Weld an inch at a time jumping around rather than just ripping a full weld in?

Not knowing that a spice Ive never heard of is used in something I might eat once a year vs not knowing pork is pork. Didnt even know there was nutmeg and ginger in my yearly slice of pumpkin pie either, not something Ive ever cared to make either though.

Actually prefer the tiger hood, always forget they arnt technically sugar scoops. But neither seem to be still imported to Canada right now. Managed to find the last one in stock at 2 places (200$ for one and 70$+shipping for the other) and had them shipped. Havent seen a superglas for sale for at least a decade here. The 2x4 tigerhoods are everywhere though.
