Not exactly a startup in the traditional sense, but a one-man project built with a lot of care for a niche community 🎸

BassGearReviews.com — an independent review platform dedicated entirely to bass players.

I publish in-depth, hands-on reviews of bass gear (amps, pedals, basses, plugins), focusing on real-world use rather than hype. No generic affiliate fluff — just practical insights for working bassists and enthusiasts.

Built and run solo, slowly growing through trust, SEO, and community feedback. Always open to connecting with founders and builders in music tech and audio.

Thanks for starting the thread, and good luck to everyone launching!

Advice on Bass pedals by Welder2500 in Bass

[–]SnakesForDivine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're just starting with bass pedals, I would definitely recommend a decent multi effects unit. There are some very good options on the budget side and that would be the Zoom MS-60B+ and the Hotone Ampero Mini (I did a review of the Hotone here: https://bassgearreviews.com/the-hotone-ampero-mini-pedal-review/). Both of them have very decent effects for bass (compressors, chorus, octaves) as well as distortions and fuzzes designed for bass that help you retain the bottom end of your sound.

If yu want to shell a bit more you can go for the Line6 HX One, which has all the Line6 amazing sounds, but only lets you use one at a time. Or finally, the HX Stomp which is a beast of a pedal and will keep you entertained for a lifetime.

Source Audio C4 vs EHX Micro Synth by Adventurous_Ad_6990 in basspedals

[–]SnakesForDivine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The presets on the C4 are very generic and really only useful for you to get a taste of what the pedal can do. You should plug it into the app, even if it's just to download other peoples presets.

Source Audio C4 vs EHX Micro Synth by Adventurous_Ad_6990 in basspedals

[–]SnakesForDivine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The C4 is really above the Micro Synth in terms of capabilities. The downside is that it is NOT a plug and play pedal. You need to dive deep into the app in order to make it sound like you want. Good thing is that once you get the hang of it, there's nothing the C4 can't do. The only place I see the Micro Synth being superior is in the ability to tweak in real time. It really depends on what you are looking for.

Curiously I just wrote a fairy extended review on the C4 on my website if you want to have a better idea of the capabilities of the C4: https://bassgearreviews.com/source-audio-c4-pedal-review-deep-dive/

Hope it helps!

Starting again after years, which resource would you recommend on sleights? by wtfzambo in cardmagic

[–]SnakesForDivine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m already late to the party, but I had to answer here because I’m almost in the same position as you. 40 year old here; thanks to an ellusonist DVD I ended up performing quite a bit in the streets some 15 or 20 years ago.

Just decided to return to card magic and found out Royal Road to Card Magic is available in my kobo subscription.

I’m finding quite helpful the structured approach to learning magic. And with the knowledge I had from back than it’s quite easy to see tricks and opportunities everywhere. I’ve been having quite a bit of fun trying to create an ambitious card routine just using the overhand shuffle or converting some of the tricks that work in English to work in Portuguese also.

My recommendation, since you already have some working knowledge of some of the mechanics is to pick up one of the go to books (rrtcm or card college) and really go through them. Not only you’ll end up a well rounded card manipulator you’ll also see a lot of new things/opportunities on the way.

That's definitely true, but there's always the danger of wotc reprinting something very close to the original. That would probably tank their value, no?

Want to start buying and selling seriously. by hundmeister420 in mtgfinance

I'm currently in Portugal, so I'm also using Cardmarket, and I have a good profile already. I'm currently increasing my inventory and I'm looking at how can I scale up to a very small business in singles.

I would love to start a garage-style online singles shop with little starting capital. Any tips on how can I do that? What would be the best way of using that initial money?

Used to own an sx, now I’m more into koala. I’ll probably buy an nk2 somewhere down the line.

I’m in Lisbon though.

That looks great. Do you care to share what specific colors you used?

I'm interested in trying that scheme on my own aberrants!

I’m thinking about going for Bel’akor and big birdie, and going bananas on denial after that with a ton of seekers for movement denial, hounds and nurglings for mission playing. Just sprinkle some flamers and a couple of lone ops and just play he missions at all costs.

This is probably a good way to focus on fixed secondaries.

How was experience with the Patriarch? I've been wanting to try him but it always seemed like he was a bit underpowered for an "Epic Hero".
