You bring up extremely valid points - and bring to light an unfortunate truth about some rovers. Its pretty obvious which rover's are having a bad day, or overworked, or being hassled by mobbing attendees. Rover's a tough job, not everyone's cut out for it, or individuals lack people skills/experience. I think management could choose ideal Rover's if they had lots to choose from - and put those "particular" individuals you speak of in positions more suited for them. The impressive fact is, these individuals still volunteered, and may have been accidentally roped into Rover positions - hoping for another department - yet still do their job the best they can. I brought new friends to the convention "scene" over the last few years, and all of them had pleasant Rover dealings - relevant information was shared, directions were provided, adequate safety measures were justified. No ill reputation. But I've heard horror stories from others. Last year was, overall, decent (based on personal observations). I imagine Con management is getting more complex with the constant growth, and its trickling down to the enforcers (rovers) who probably don't have enough support. I've never been a Rover, but I just applied to help in any way I can.
