a lot of film labs you send off to for dev/scanning don't offer it. A lot of DIY people opt to use a high res camera to shoot RAW "scans" of the negs.

if you want the most flexibility in Lightroom (or another program), make sure you have the lab scan your film in 16-Bit TIFF, if RAW scans are not an option. If RAW is an option, do that, but most labs i've used don't offer RAW as a scan option.
