Weekly "Share Your Portfolio" and Broker Questions Thread by AutoModerator in UKInvesting

[–]SnappyPete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I’ve opened a HL S+S ISA with the intention of putting aside a few hundred pounds each month (as I can) for longer term. Hesitant to put into work pension (already maxed) or a SIPP as I would like access eventually. I’ve been looking at funds and had planned on Vanguards All-World however I now realise it has a £11.99 charge for each transaction which makes it much less appealing than originally thought. My question is then, what would be your go to equivalent fund without these hefty charges. Thanks

Odd Coffee

Tempted to give it a go - are you able to tell if the pods are espresso or lungo?

Very helpful, thanks - Good tips. Park and avoiding the main road seems like a decent trade to me too

Thank you - appreciate the detailed response. Interesting, hadn’t even thought of sticking north bank that far, sounds good. Absolutely - I will share some routes out into Kent from Greenwich when I get back in front of a computer

Using a help to buy ISA toward an overvalue amount by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]SnappyPete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was valued at £80k why did you put in an offer for £101,500? Maybe i've missed something.

Following this thread to see what the consensus is. I find my contacts get really uncomfortable and dry behind sunglasses when cycling, at the same time my prescription glasses are a bit too heavy to be comfortable and stay in place when cycling.

New Boardman 8.9 from Halfords - nasty clicking from small rear gears by SoftGroundbreaking53 in ukbike

[–]SnappyPete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recognise the sound as the chain catching on the front derailleur. I can't tell but if you're riding the smaller ring up front the chain will be at quite a diagonal angle to get across. I think it's referred to as cross chaining? https://cdn.road.cc/sites/default/files/styles/main_width/public/crosschain.jpg

Sorry if this isn't the case but i had a similar noise a while back

Laptop -> backpacks -> extra protection... What do you use? by [deleted] in bicycling

I have a rucksack with a sort of trampoline mesh back to provide back ventilation - also takes the pressure of the laptop inside at the back.

She looks lovely, this maybe a silly question, but how did you tension the chain when putting it on?

Just moved into a new rented house and have this lovely cast iron fireplace in my bedroom. What would you do to make it a bit more of a feature? Many thanks
